i will Wait for him to explain how you can times something that is clearly marked with a plus sign before any x sign. following the examples shown above it clearly states x bananas which are 4 of them for the answer. if there is another answer i would loved to see it so i can have a good laugh<laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

show me the example please, to explain how you can multiply something without the x being there, and if its so, its wrong because the following examples preceding in the above examples do not state that rule

The only way I can explain is you do this first
4 eggs multiplied by 4 bananas equals 16 then you add the hen which is 20
    That gets you 36
That’s the order you do the equation
I’m sure I will be told if I’m wrong

that is wrong mate, the examples above to show how to work it out ,are not done that way by the rules you describe, so entering a new set of rules, when the previous examples don't show that rule, makes the exercise stupid, hence anyone expecting a differing answer with the working logic shown how to achieve the answer is bonkers. but thank you for showing an example Vince i appreciate it mate

However there has been a precedence set by the examples shown above the last one that throws that theory out of the window

20 +3 + 3=26 using your theory that answer should then be 29, or please explain why not with the calculus you describe thank you in advance for your reply mate

Eggs are one each and bananas are one each. four bananas and four eggs, so first of all you calculate that which equals sixteen. Then you do the addition which is the hen which is twenty plus the sixteen that you already have which comes to thirty six.

PS.. I have to write the numbers as some of my number keys are not working.

Why do the "x" first though?
Why not in the order they are in on the question i.e. plus (+) then times (x).
    If the question was 20 + 4 x 4 = would that not be 96?

Not having brackets in an equation like that is just sloppy.
Would never have happened in my day.

I just had two police officers come up to me outside Aldi.
They asked me the following questions:
"Are you familiar with the letters HB?"
    I said, "no I'm not"

    "How about LS?"
    "No"

    "What about JD?"
    I said, "hang on a minute . . . . am I a suspect or something?"
They said, "no, these are just initial enquiries."
