So for me, Only Fools is by far my favourite comedy sitcom from the UK. You’ll never get another Del Boy/Rodney/Trigger etc. I also love Royle Family, I feel a lot of northern families can relate to this programme. I also had a soft spot for Two Pints of Lager. (love Gaz) I know it’s more of a comedy drama and not a sitcom but I also loved Shameless. What’s your favourites? I expect a few Faulty Towers.
Fools & Horses, Fawlty Towers, Porridge. In that order, for me. Also, The Vicar of Dibley, brilliant!
I'm gonna go for a more rare choice on here amongst this age group, I suspect. I really liked Gavin and Stacey. Could The Office be considered a sitcom, it was only two seasons and didn't have a real sorta sitcom vibe, but I also thought that was hilarious. Extras is another I found extremely funny. But if you want ol' style classic British ****, I have to go for Only Fools and Horses, that show seems timeless.
I’m not sure you’d call it a sitcom but for me the best comedy series ever was Yes Minister which progressed to Yes, Prime Minister. As with Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, great actors, great writing and great timing.
Only Fools and Horses writer John Sullivan had success previously with Citizen Smith (with Robert Lindsay).
Favourite Fawlty Towers episide? For me, it's The Psychiatrist. 40 mins of sheer joy. "Right, the games up!" "Meester Fawlty...he go crazy for girl" It wouldn't be allowed now, too non-PC.
,The Thick of It,. Best thing Capaldi has done. They did a film version called 'The Loop' with James Gandolfini - hilarious.
Dads Army brings back many happy memories of watching it with my Dad he told me as many stories as Frazer still watch all the repeats today
Still Game , don’t know if Mrs Browns boys is allowed I,ve been watching Mr Inbetween - secretly the guy you would want to be
