Call Me Rocky 20/1 EW, 4 places - Punchestown 1.05. He has been ok on the flat and has placed 4 times from 7 runs, winning once and his first try over timber was useful, if not being caught for room at a vital time, he may have got to the winner the last day, looks a big price here based on that evidence. Solar Heat 16/1 EW, 3 places 1.35 - not one for maximum faith, but In a race lacking quality and reverting back to hurdles, this battle hardened filly may be able to get involved in a finish if putting her best work in. The form of this race could be an indicator towards one of Henry DeBromhead's later in the card named Low Lie The Fields, but that horse is short enough for me so best watched until we see how this race pans out. Fantasio D'alene 11/8 3.15 - maybe one to add to any multi bets if this fellow is too short for you to back, but I will be on a straight win as I feel he is the strongest bet on the day's card, the form with Stattler and Vanillier is looking useful so far. Mahler's Star is interesting and on collateral form could have the favourites measure, but up to 3 miles i think Gordon's apparent 1st string wins this. It would be good if one of the larger priced picks can win, if not I'll be happy with any placings as long as the shortie can win. Let's see how tomorrow goes. All the best.
Ayr 2.30 Bako De La Saueie Worth another chance on 3rd run after a wind surgery with a dangerous looking handicap mark. The Dobbins always to be feared in these kind of races at Ayr. Looks overpriced at 18/1 with conditions to suit. .
It's a slow day today, but lets see if these can give me an extra smile on the day being that it's my birthday today... All at Ayr... 1:55 - Polydora @ 9/2 2:30 - Manetti @ 6/1 3:00 - On We Go @ 15/4 Singles and a Tirixie Good luck if your having a play today...
That didn't go at all well. Call Me Rocky was going ok, just began to get racing when once again his amateur jockey jumped into a spot that wasn't for jumping and was halted and almost stopped in his tracks, race over. Solar Heat went OK for half a circuit and faded poorly again, then to top ot all off, Mahler's Star left a penalty kick for us in Fantasio D'Alene, pulling out and leaving the horse at 2/7, but he was absolutely stuffed by Ted Walsh's Pure Genius who had only a canter around to win by a street, the step up to 3 miles for him made him look a very useful animal. Let's hope he isn't one of Ted's 1 win from 77 runs horses. To top it all off, I received a message at 12. 56 from a relative, who's Father in law had the horse as a pointer, telling me Corach Rambler was likely to go close in the Ayr 12.55, you guessed right, I couldn't get any bet on as he stayed on dourly to win at 14/1. One of them days. I'll keep my powder dry again until something more likely pops up.
