Can't we lend them some of our players? This used to be OK when I played rugby (at the lowest level imaginable)

 

There is talk of Shrewsbury forfeiting the match.

 

The FA have previously said there can’t be any postponements of matches, and all results have to be settled this weekend. Sadly for the Salop, if they can’t field a team, forfeiting would seem to be the only way out.

 

Shrewsbury need a minimum of 14 players available to play. Any less and they forfeit the tie.

In the league yes. In the cup we would just be given a bye.

 

Actually it has been reported that no club will have to automatically forfeit if they can't fulfil a game. Each case would be assessed by the FA individually.

 

As great as a bye would be, I was actually looking forward to having something to watch this weekend! Bet Ralph would a week off for the players mind you

 

Wouldn't be the worst thing for us right now with all our injuries etc. Shame for Forster not to get another game, and would have been a good opportunity for players like Valery, Tella, Vokins and Smallbone.

 

If I was a Shrewsbury fan I would be hoping for a fair hearing and get the match on. Yes we could use the advantage of a bye, but, to me, this is about the game in a bigger context than just us.

 

If it gets called off, it would actually be great for the players to get a rest.

Our next few fixtures are Leeds, Leicester United and arsenal so if we can get everyone fit for that little run in, it would actually be a big help

I'm torn between thinking that a Saints team should easily overcome a heavily-depleted League One team, and expecting that the players who would be in Shewsbury's XI would think that they have a point to prove, so will be going hell for leather, with the very likely outcome of getting injuries, to them, and more worryingly, to our players.

On balance, I'll take a bye, and a rest for us/our players.

 

I hate weekends without a game, but not sure I want our lads exposed to possible covid carriers....tests not 100%. Wasn't too happy about Ings chatting with his mates from Liverpool either.
