It's pretty insulting to KLD to put pressure on him to do well as if he isn't 100% committed to that anyway. I don't think he'll care about a poorly worded statement from RAWA but it would be better if it didn't exist. Just welcome the lad and check back in a year to see if any demands need to be made.
Totally agree. RAWA seem to think they have some sort of high standing amongst the fans and are somehow important to Sunderland AFC. Go back to supporting the lads and let the business folks do what they do best. Talking like this to a family of billionaires is cringeworthy and highly embarrassing.
The 3 bolded bits aren't necessary at all. In fact the first paragraph may as well read welcome, but you're not 100% welcome yet 2nd paragraph "demands of our fans" and "if he attempts to meet the standards and ambitions of our stature" is extremely magesque Edit: unsurprisingly saff seems to have picked out the same three parts as have others
I would have thought what youve picked out is true for all supporters....there is no demand to see an assured plan there is a hope....and for the other parts its emphasising our support in general and what we expect
I truly believe that this time this owner and board will sort us out and take us places. Short knew nothing about football, he was sold a vision by Quinny on a Golf course. Quinns group tried and managers spunked money up the wall. Short had a go but had the wrong people at the club running it. He did try. Pumped money in when he was asked. If you ask me, he started to change his mind when he was rumoured to have pulled the plug at the 11th hour on the Van Dijk deal. As for the last lot of owners.... well let's leave that can of worms. But now, this feels different, feels professional. A man in charge that loves football and has grown up around it with wealth. He isn't an oil tycoon, horse racing investors or an insurance man that sees football as a sidenote. As normal we will wait and see. I genuinely from the off never bought into the last lot as I've stated from the off, but this time......
There's no need to issue this statement at all, do they think a foreign billionaire is going to be reading the Echo ffs ... ... I'd actually be quite angry if they've actually sent it to KLD, surely not! Of course they don't think he reads the Echo and, I'm sorry to say, this statement isn't actually directed at the new owner. It's an attempt to bullshit the supporters and demonstrate just how dynamic, pro-active and relevant RAWA is. Sorry lads but you're not all that, we'll welcome KLD and his staff, we don't need you to hold our hands.
Imo for what it's worth, which is probably not a lot. The RAWA statement is a symptom of the way Donald & co have treat us these past couple of years. The fan base have be mislead and on some occasions lied to. While I don't have any resentment or miss trust of KLD. I can understand some being more cautious than others. Personally I think the statement has been poorly thought out and perhaps a private apology could be offered.
That's also the assumption that RAWA have made and they've even wrote down what they think the supporters want... They've got no business in doing that and as has been shown on this thread, the majority of supporters don't seem to want RAWA speaking for us. Instead of using words like 'supporters' they should say something along the lines of '3 or 4 of us on this committee have ideas above our station and believe we are somehow associated to the club, so show us your plans' The wording on it is entitled, aggressive and unnecessary. RAWA need to make another statement now apologising and to retract their original statement. Just say they were mortal over Christmas or something. It's believable reading that ****e.
That bit about wanting to meet him to help him understand the demands of our fans is cringeworthy at best, dripping with arrogance at worse, and in o way does it represent my views. Agree about their being no need to even say it and whoever at RAWA thought it was a good idea should have access to their internet removed.
We've heard what the plans are, Speakman let us know; aim to become a centre of excellence in all football matters with a clear pathway from youths into the first team. He even phoned round the parents of the kids in the academy for a chat about stuff which is a far cry from Don touting them around for a few quid. The fact we made an appointment like him to oversee said plans as well as getting a head coach who is on board with this approach is evidence of implementing it. KLD hasn't even had the official EFL approval yet but he seems to have a handle on what needs doing and is already acting on it. RAWA have come across as not paying attention to what has happened at the cllub and appear to be suffering from an over inflated sense of self importance imo.
A Lion doesn't concern himself with the opinions of sheep! No one in RAWA has a clue how to run a professional football club and even less chance of being able to buy one. Let the new owner do it his way, we may not be in Championship next year given where we are today. If we are not the year after, is the time to question him.
There is nowt wrong with that like, it reads positively to me, if anything it seems to be appealing to KLD that we might be a cynical group but once we see evidence of competence we'll be fully behind him. I really expected it to be much worse reading this thread. There is literally nowhere "demanding" to see the plans, it's all about seeing evidence of a plan i.e results on and off the pitch.
Don't know anyone involved in this RAWA, but they really have an over inflated opinion of themselves. I imagine the meeting when this "notice to KLD" was thought of was one to behold. FFS .....totally and utterly meaningless.
exactly, I don' t like the idea of a 70's trade union set up creating a 'them vs us' atmosphere from the outset, it sets the wrong tone. if this has genuinely been rubber stamped by a 5man RAWA comittee they really do need to have a good look at themselves and their role.
Yeah, I bet he loves the idea of having to prove himself and provide evidence of his business plan when other chairmen in football are welcomed with open arms, supported from day one and allowed to get on running their multi million pound initial investment.
That RAWALPINDI stem won’t is quite embarrassing, demanding anything isn’t the way to welcome any new owner to our club. Who the **** do they think they are? Thankfully the majority of our fans have a different view and will welcome the new owner and give the lad time to settle in and then communicate with us, if that’s his intentions. A very magesque statement, please don’t use us, the fans as a whole because the majority disagree with that statement.
This is partially the result of the lock downs and absence of supporters in the ground imo. It looks like some weird bunker mentality when the lack of contact, with people on the outside, distorts reality and hightens the importance of irrelevant things. I'd like RAWA to answer a few questions which, as they're speaking for all Sunderland supporters, is the least they can do. Where was this statement sent. How many people were involved. Why was it issued before the owner is EFL approved. What exactly are the demands of the supporters. What will happen if the new owners plans don't meet with your approval.
