Chuck Yeager, first man to fly supersonic, has died age 97. He had done more by the age of 24 to fill several lifetimes, and didn’t stop then. The Right Stuff indeed. RIP
Now this does make me sad - the World Cup in 1982 was the first one I remember England being involved in, and it would never have been the same without this performance....RIP Paolo Rossi Paolo Rossi: Italy's 1982 World Cup hero dies aged 64 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55248469
That year the Brazilians were red hot favourites and Italy had scraped through their group but on the day they actually took on the Brazilians with sharp counter-attacking and Rossi took advantage of their defensive shortcomings to score a brilliant hat-trick and they never looked back. The tournament made him a god in Italy. 64 is a youngish age to go, RIP...
An icon in her time. Can never forget her interactions with Sid James (and the Carry On gang). Brilliant. RIP Babs.
Sad news, I used to go the BBC bar before the games and met with her a few times always up for a laugh and a drink; a fun lady on and off screen.
