    Mate of mine used to manage South Shields. They went up 4 or 5 tiers of the pyramid. Doesn't mean he's qualified to managed Sunderland

    that was his point. It’s rare for the same manager to take the team from league one to the premier. And when it does happen, it’s frankly hardly ever going to be a ready made premier league manager otherwise they wouldn’t have dropped down to league one in the first place.

    so the idea that we need to appoint somebody now who’s ready for the premier league now is absurd

    But they hadn't taken any one from League 1 to the Prem until they did.

    Yes it does. It doesn't mean you can take a step up and deal with the pressure that comes with a huge job like SAFC

    Football, for years has been a "put your medals on the table" industry. Like it or not, players respect manager with experience or a proven ability. You see it when Kane meets Mourinho for the 1st time in that Spurs documentary - he's totally overwhelmed by the presence of the guy

    A non-league manager rocking up, telling Sunderland players what to do having never played professionally? Not a chance

    @Prehab26 has been fair in the past and given bob credit that he does get genuine info.
    He doesn’t help himself by the way he words things and keeping the actual info for several pages later, but after today **** it I’ll believe him
