In the UK arm of the Oxford/AZ vaccine trial, no patients were aged over 55. Apparently there were ‘thousands’ of UK patients (I can’t find an exact figure) out of the 24,000 in the trial. There were also patients from Brazil and South Africa, where of course they have much younger populations than here. So the regulators will note that there is limited evidence on efficacy for the most vulnerable through age in the UK population.
So the England figures to Oct 15 says 241 pepople under age of 39 years have died of Covid. 2,358 died aged between 39-59 have died of Covid The rest are over 60. So speaking as a 67 year old who would like to see the Rs win something again ... what is your point here Ellers. I do not want to die just yet The other point about nobody celebrating the Oxford vaccine. I, and everyone else on here, as far as I was aware really were celebrating. Cheaper easier to use AND MADE IN THIS COUNTRY...vital in 2021 for reasons I do not need to explain. But I would like to say although it was the hard work over many many years from Oxford based scientists, a lot of the funding came from AstraZeneca, a big Anglo Swedish pharma and also from Bill Gates....very little came from the UK government. The government funds the MRC which pays the salaries of some of the scientists but not all....and the Oxford Vaccine centre was funded through central funding that started a long long time ago during the time of evil Blair if I remember correct. Scientists do what scientists do....and the Oxford team just responded to the crisis with a lot of thought and even more action...without the requirement of outsourcing to a company run by an ex Jockey Club employee
I don't want you or anyone to die Beth. I think my point was of that age group (under 40) only 46 people (without underling problems) have died in total. So just to clarify, are you saying that those 241people that died had no underling health problems? As for Oxford, I think you need to reread my comments as I never said that you or anyone on here wasn't pleased... in fact I only made a comment about Watfords remarks on "Rule Britannia". I don't get what you are trying to say?
How dare you. That paper is a shocker! Everyday they keep going on about war with China and Brexit. It's a comic.
I only saw just universal applaud and a certain sigh of relieffrom this board, as it should be There are far more than 6 people on here that try and speak for their/our nation....you and me are at least two, whatever our views we try and speak as we feel our nation should act
don't eat that last chip Tier 2 rules means diners and drinkers must leave pubs and restaurants once food is finished Food only: diners won’t be able to stay after eating a ‘substantial meal’ Food only: diners won’t be able to stay after eating a ‘substantial meal’ By David Ellis @dvh_ellis 2 days ago Those living under Tier 2 restrictions will not be allowed to linger to drink in pubs and restaurants after eating, the Prime Minister’s official spokesperson has announced. Asked how long drinkers can stay in the pub after purchasing “a substantial meal” – now required under law in order to have a drink – the Downing Street spokesperson said: “We’ve been clear that, in Tier 2 I believe, that you need to have a substantial meal if ordering any alcohol and it remains the case that the guidance says that once the meal is finished, it is at that point.” While yesterday’s announcement of Tier 2 rules bought some hope for London’s hard-pressed hospitality sector, today’s clarification is likely to be seen as yet another imposition on struggling businesses, as alcohol sales are traditionally where most restaurants and pubs turn the largest profit. The move is also likely to provoke anger amongst publicans, who have been advised that those wanting soft drinks or coffee do not need to eat a substantial meal. It has not been clarified why the virus is more likely to spread to over a glass of wine than a mug of cocoa.

****ing hell, my GP practice, which I thought had essentially sealed itself off from the rest of humanity, has just texted me to invite me in for a flu vaccination. Booked in immediately because there was a warning ‘book fast, stock is limited’. Increases my confidence that they might be able to get the COVID vaccination into people as well. Jolly d.
Mine messaged me last week to say that I was due the flu jab and they would contact me again when the stocks arrive.
