I saw the first half and thought we were unlucky to not bag a goal from our chances. Went to the building suppliers, got back on 75 minutes to see us 0-1 up and 30 seconds later they scored. I cant help feeling that I cost us a point. As others said we looked very tired, JWP especially, it was really noticeable taking a break from the viewing. Expected Diallo to come on a lot earlier than he did. Winning the league might be beyoned us without Ings but we are on a roll - long may it continue.
Theo is a nice chap. Too nice. Am I the only one who was a little disappointed in his interview? “That’s a point that feels like a victory”.... I was expecting him to be a very angry/annoyed at himself for not sealing the game; he was too satisfied with himself. Ings or Kane would have been furious with themselves. He’s doing great and had a good game, but in that moment I saw why he didn’t quite do what he could have done with his career (he could have done so much more); too nice, not a killer.
Think it's more likely just (lack of) technique and (lack of) composure that has held him back. You can be a 'nice' guy and still punish teams week in, week out. Le Tiss didn't have the 'killer' attitude either.
It's so gratifying to watch us play without fear - we did it when we were promoted back to the PL, under Poch and largely under Koeman too. Then we were lost in the wilderness for a bit. Now Ralph's philosophy is paying off and it's great to see.
Maybe, but I think some players need to have it. I was just a little disappointed that he didn’t even seem to be annoyed he missed that chance. Danny and Kane are “nice” guys, but maybe as you say it’s just they’re better in technique or composure.
Neither did Sugar Ray Robinson, and he was one of the greatest of all time in the toughest of all sports.
Absolutely no doubt about that. But they're two of the very best. Danny will put away 80% of his one-on-ones. Theo more like 50%. I guess that's why we got him for free. Haha. Regards the interview, I know what you mean. It is always good to see a player's hunger. Perhaps Theo's interview skills are just like his finishing skills; seems to lose his focus at the big moment.
Agree with your point but but don’t you think (especially the more intelligent interviewees) are very guarded with their responses? Im sure his cat was absolutely petrified when he got home
Theo is just enjoying himself so much and that was the theme here for him. I’m sure he’s very focussed on what he needs to do, listen to what the Ralph says about him. Would have been different if we’d lost but a draw away to Wolves is a good result and we didn’t really deserve any more Also, he’s better one on one coming in from the left as he likes to bend it in to the far corner from there For me we didn’t get the ball to him enough when he was looking for space deeper. That’s where he has been hurting teams and we played the ball back and wide too much
My money would be on him going him and stoking his pussy emoticon-0104-surpr) and telling it about his goal rather than kicking it for missing his chance. I still stand by that comment though. I’d have been pissed if it was me. Really pissed.
Great that he’s enjoying it. Love that. Love him. But feck me I want him angry when he misses a sitter that could win us the game. I’d have been delighted if he’d kicked the sponge bucket and hoarding before stomping off down the tunnel telling Sky to stick their interview up their arse.
In fairness, Ralph said that he was really annoyed with himself in the dressing room for missing the chance.
I agree, I'm not slating him at all, it was a fine performance. I just noticed there were times when either Bertrand or Djenepo got confused in who was making runs outside though. Redmond and Bertrand seem to be almost telepathic at times. They seemed to have a lot more off the bench than us, too. All in all though, great performance, against a brilliant side. Can't wait for the next match.
This is what the BBC said “However, his emotions were also on display when he appeared angry with himself for failing to make the score 2-0 from Adams' fine pass” Does that help at all or still not angry enough?
I think it is a combination of natural ability and that anger/hunger/desire you mention. I'd say the difference not having that anger/hunger makes is after missing one of those chances - the likes of Ings/Kane would be furious with themselves and work ridiculously hard on their game to make sure it doesn't happen again. Whereas those that are happy with the 1 goal and just a bit annoyed about the miss - may not have the same reaction and therefore not reach the level of Ings/Kane.
