Not awful, but no cutting edge. 3 goals in 5 games isn’t good enough with the forwards we have (Not counting the friendlies). 3-4-3 isn’t working for England. We were defensively fragile with 4-3-3 but we were getting better results.
Would be an act of vandalism imo, that’s a pretty unique building quite apart from it’s sporting history.
Must admit, everyone seems to be slating England but I thought we were pretty good. We were missing a lot of players, trent, rashford sterling and Chilwell going off - yet we still battered Belgium for much of it and were unlucky to concede the goals we did. I know I have been banging the drum for ages, but Jack grealish is such a talent. World class player
I actually enjoyed watching that, which isn’t something I could say about a lot of recent England games. Grealish is a big reason for that I don’t think the formation is working well for us, Kane needs a partner, Grealish and Mount are midfielders So Kane is the only striker and he always plays with a foil at Spurs, we need similar. Probably difficult with Danny, Sterling and Vardy out, but playing with wing backs and only one striker is mad. As is three at the back when Belgium only have Lukaku up front and we could have had 10 at the back and still he would have won the long balls
Great shout. Playing a one man striker against top teams is always going to be a difficult ask even with a talented forward moving midfield. Easy against the also rans but against any of the top 10, ain’t gonna work & that’s what we need to be aiming / achieving. We proved for years we can beat the 2nd & lower tier teams. Obviously way from our 1st string but tactics will dictate any significant progress. Over to you Gareth.
Just watched the 'Stuart Pearce Special' on Sky Sports, charting his career in his words. Pleasantly surprised, it was actually quite good. If they repeat it or you have catch up, I thoroughly recommend it.
Anyone know why Armstrong’s not even on bench for Scots tonight? I see Bedders is starting & Vesty on bench. Here’s hoping no injuries.
Armstrong left out "as a precaution because of a tight hamstring". Fingers crossed for a safe night for B & V.
