RIP Des It has been a sad year for the loss of quality entertainers, people that were clever with their words who didn't have to resort to swearing or being vulgar and who could appeal to anyone of age group

I miss that kind of humour! Des was always the butt of Eric's jokes, particularly his singing. He always took it in good part, as it was intended
Just saw an interview with Des, he was always so depricating. He told a story of being offered a £5 for one of his LP by a lady at the theatre door when he was leaving. He told the lady..."no I can't take your £5, you can get it for £3 at your local record shop". The lady replied..."Oh no, I can't do that, they always laugh at me" You don't get that sort of humour anymore, mores the shame. R.I.P Des, stalwart of my favourite Christmas's
Another one gone. My late father was good friends and worked with him, Max Bygraves, Morecambe and Wise and Dicky Henderson. When I was a kid in the 70's my dad took me to either the Prince of Wales or Palladium theatre (can't remember which one). He organised with Morecambe and Wise to come down off the stage during the performance to my seat (Row 4) and sing to me. Never will I forget that moment. My Mum would always say "your dads out with Des/Max/Dicky" My love of theatre started then. Bless them all. Never forgotten. RIP
It was quite an era, wasn't it? I remember there was also Joe Corrigan. England had a decent pool of keepers to call upon. A certain Mr Parkes too.
RIP Ray Have just heard a tribute from Bob Wilson saying how agile Ray was - the crowd were cheering for a goal and his hands stretched out to push the ball away.
That is so sad about Des and Ray..... Des was one of the great entertainers who never took himself seriously the raport with Eric and Ernie was pure brilliance..... Ray was a great keeper in an era of great English keepers.....Still at least we have the memories of Gerry and dear old Mickey scoring against him on that wonderful August Saturday in 75.....plus he had huge fortune on his side in the cup final replay.... RIP to both....
RIP Des. A proper old style entertainer, with a much better voice than he's given credit for. RIP Ray Clemence. A fantastic keeper. What a **** year!!
Des O'Connor was a wonderful entertainer that you can't imagine anyone disliking. RIP Des So sad to hear about Ray Clemence, he was a great keeper and came across as a nice gentleman. RIP Ray
Use to love the way Morecambe would continually take the piss out of O'Conner, great memories. RIP Des.
