But out of 100% what percentage of his role is taken up with this ethics/diversity/equality stuff?

Has it not assumed a disproportionately large part of his role?

Probably little, but as the figurehead of a far reaching organisation which has been banging the drum for diversity over the years, you have to lead from the front.

This isn't a slip of the tongue, this is a basic misunderstanding of what he was saying today. He didn't just use loaded words, he used stereotypes too.

Its different to you or I saying this, its the leader of one of the biggest organisations in the country, the person in the role needs to do better.

Again, whether it is disproportionately large is down to your viewpoint. My viewpoint is it hasn't been enough, yours I assume is that its too much. That's fair enough. I'm not going to argue with your opinion, just putting across my perspective.

He was quoting what a coach said to him about girls scared of being hit by a ball. Will 5he coach he was quoting be sacked or resigning?

I'm a member of a majority that feels let down by the FA over many years for a hundred different reasons.

Didn't hear the context of his stereotype comments, not sure if he was promoting them or just quoting them as part of a wider discussion.

He needs to do better, but his intention was not to offend-maybe his employers should show some loyalty to a bungling colleague

People tend to get an instant red card these days for gross misconduct reasons: dishonesty, violence, sexual, dangerous/reckless behaviour. confrontational/refusal to obey clear instructions or gross incompetence.

Not sure whIch of these is applicable to GC

As 3% of the population is black I would say that black people are well represented in top flight football. 87% of players in the PL are not white as is the population. It is a meritocracy, as it should be.No one is suggesting quotas to reflect the ethnic make up of the country in football, are they?

Probably not, but a coach is very different to the head of the FA.

Regardless, it doesn't help stereotypes to be saying something like this in public. It may be true, but it is a careless way of broaching the issue. Especially when there is a focus on making the women's game bigger. I can't imagine the comments went down well with the England Women's squad.

Isn't it sexist to assume they need protecting from such talk?

99% of the population couldn't name any of the England women's squad,

In a single afternoon, he managed to insult black players, Indians, gays and women.

Quite an achievement for a bloke tasked with improving diversity in football.

They probably can as the Women's football World Cup and other England internationals have been on the BBC. Also over 50% of the population are female.

He is a proven racist, misogynistic, homophobic piece of ****. Regardless of how minor or inconsequential you deemed his comments to be, I can’t understand why anyone would support him anyway.

He is the kind of person a more ruthlessly progressive society would just remove entirely.

'Ruthlessly progressive' will surely be the oxymoron of the day.

99% may be an exaggeration. 97% then...

'Just imagine you are one of those enlightened employees within the FA, campaigning hard for diversity within the game, even writing codes for clubs to absorb, and then you hear your chairman talking to parliament and managing to offend black and Asian people, women and gay people, in a debate about bailing out EFL clubs. Greg Clarke had to resign for the FA’s fight against discrimination to retain any integrity'. - Henry Winter

Not as offended as I am by people don't use full stops. Or should I be offended and frightened by people who do? Modern life is so confusing.
