Foyth is awful. Very good on the ball but defensively he’s woeful. No strength, positionally suspect, not great in the air. You never know what Bielsa could do with him but I’d be shocked if that happened, the media just think an Argentine coach must want Argentine players despite the fact we haven’t signed a single Argentine player since Bielsa arrived. Lazy journalism, nothing more.

Radz has already made it clear the vast majority of our signings will be raiding the top end Championship players.

Have a feeling that something will happen on the Big Kev front in the next week or two. The player has been silent since leaving and only the club are talking by bigging up they are due £18m now. I believe Leeds have grounds for getting out of the deal but I believe Leeds feel responsible for potentially killing Big Kevs career as his value will have plummeted. We know Bielsa rates him highly but needs a fully fit JKA and Bielsa himself said £20m is cheap for a player who is worth twice that when fit. I can see us buying him at a knockdown price with add ons

Don’t see how that’s possible. We owe Leipzig £18m for Augustin. If we manage to get out the deal, we’ve just shown Augustin we want nothing to do with him, doubt he’s going to fancy turning up after that and can’t see Leipzig wanting to do business with us after we basically reneged on a done deal.

If we don’t manage to get out the deal, we have to pay the full amount for him. I can’t see Leipzig accepting a lower fee just because the player isn’t worth as much as £18m, they’ll just want to collect the full amount we promised them.

I suspect we’ll come to some sort of agreement and pay them a large chuck (£10m? No idea) to rid ourselves of the problem and let them keep him and sell on as they see fit. That way they get money and still have an asset they can sell on for a lower amount and still make the sort of money they expected to should he have come here.

Looks a very poor deal in retrospect but would rather know now than have signed him for £18m in summer and he’d been unable to keep up with Bielsa and become a huge liability on our books.

you could well be right mate, I have seen nothing to say you're wrong anywhere. Just a feeling I have that something is going to happen

Well so far we have been linked to 17 players from home and abroad and there has been 8 of those players where confirmed meetings have taken place between the clubs and in some cases players agents.

confirmed contact
Juan Foyth
Thiago Almada
Lucas Martinez Quarta
Florentino Louis
Johnathan David
Eberechi Eze
Nicolas Gonzalez
Emiliano Martinez

Media stories
Edinson Cavani
Said Benrahama
Emiliano Buendia
Ollie Watkins
Sergio Romero
Cristhian Stuani
Josh King
David Brooks
Callum Wilson

I’d still like to sign Eze from qpr.
Eze rumour started because Bielsa described him as potentially world class when we played QPR in January. Wonderful player, as is the midfielder from Reading, can find his name if I have to. Centre Half, lad from Preston, again if needed could look it up. Benpyjama and Watkins when QPR reserves are out of the Play Offs and we’re sorted.

Oh, and got some Colombian Red pipe filler if anyone is interested?

Jonathan David can be scrapped he wants to go to Lille
Thats according to Lille, the CEO of Gent says the dealings with Lille are terminated. The piece you read is 36 hours old yet still being pushed by some lazy journos Rich. Yes it could well be Lille if they come back with over £27m that Leeds are supposed to have offered which is £4m more than Lille offered to start with, but there are now other clubs involved in this horse race

If true that’s a lot of money for someone who’s played in a poor league. Teams like Everton has found this to their cost.

Names might be useful <laugh>

Let's buy Ben White, spend the money, the boy is only going to get better, can play his role and also although not perfect fit for KP.
He know's the system and the other players, what's the other option buy some cheap clogger from a lower league.
If we go the cheap route we will be fecked, Radz has to use his contacts to bring in financial clout.
Although I do understand these are difficult times to budget.
No point spending massive bucks on a striker if the defense is like a sieve.

To do well a team needs to score goals

Salah, Mane and Fermino scored 60 this season
Sterling, Jesus and Aguero scored 75 this season
Martial, Rashford and Greenwood scored 61 goals
Our top 3 scored 32 which will be many less in the Premier League

McBurnie, Sharp, Mousset, and McGoldrick managed 20 between the four of them (17 if you discount cup goals) and if we have a season like them I’ll be over the moon.

Thinking about the media reports and the sort of players and values being bandied about, I really hope It’s all bollocks and Orta & Bielsa have Some thing else up their sleeves.

£27 million? Is David guaranteed to win us the PL title or something? What percentage of our war chest does that represent? It might be small potatoes for Liverpool but not Leeds, and the fecker doesn’t even seem to want to come. Spend it on White.

£18m Augustin.
£15m Costa.
£15m Foyth.
£23m Florintino.
£11m Quarta.

Serious reality check required and time for Orta to earn his money.

Wouldn’t worry too much, 99.9% will be media bullshit, Orta having conversations doesn’t mean we’ll be signing the player - managers/directors of football must have conversations with hundreds of players and agents every year and sign a very small percentage of them.

We know Radz and Orta love a loan before buying scenario as well, wouldn’t surprise me if we sign £20m+ players on loan for a small loan fee and the rest at the end of the season if we stay up.

Transfer fees are rarely all up front nowadays anyway - Costa for instance, we’ve only paid £4m so far and will pay another £4m each season for the next three. When it’s like that, the impact on our transfer budget (at this level anyway) is small.

£27m for David (which I can’t see happening, he has his heart set on Lille by all accounts) is a lot of money but that is just the nature of the transfer market nowadays. There’s always going to be the opportunity for bargains and where possible we ought to exploit them, but we live in a world where Oli McBurnie was worth £20m after a half decent season in the Championship and a couple of Scotland caps. £27m for David seems about right in that market.

It’s early days and the media have gone into overdrive because it’s Leeds and Bielsa in the Premier League, so we’re linked to every man and his dog for ridiculous fees. Bielsa will know exactly who he wants, Radz will know exactly what we can afford, and Orta will do as best he can to bring the player in within the existing financial framework :emoticon-0148-yes:
