The original summer transfer window was due to open on Wednesday 10th June, but as yet there is no news about whether the dates will change because of the Covid-19 delay to the season. The window was due to close on 1st September (after the season had started), as opposed to last summer where the window shut before a league game was played. Nonetheless, with rumoured interest in a right back and stories that the club want signings done quickly, I thought it was time to have a thread to discuss any Saints related rumours.
The rumour mentioned in the original post is right back Deyovaisio Zeefuik http://www.football-oranje.com/southampton-and-stade-reims-battling-for-zeefuik/
Of the linked players I'd like to see Maehle sign for us. As last season, need to ditch the dead wood and sign a quality CB or two. Is it wrong I'm not fussed if Hojberg leaves ? Tough, not bothered.
Agreed but I think Zeefuik will come in instead Agree about PEH, to me he is our fourth best midfielder and has been part of the defensive issues as he gives the ball away/gets caught in possession too often and is far to slow to get back to rectify his error. Easily replaceable especially if Spurs throw an amazing £35m at us which would be unbelievable
They've just taken out a £175m loan, so not sure if they'll be too busy this summer? Edit - unless that's because they need money for players like PEH
Well that's unfortunate Chilcs, I've always got on with you so it's a shame that it's had to end this way
Can you still get Fruit Salads? I remember some really horrible Trebor orange-flavoured chews which cam in wrappers which had a picture of a dinosaur in when you opened them up.
Page one for the transfer thread going off topic has to be a new record. Ref transfers it will surely be a relatively quiet window all round given the current situation? Can't see many clubs having a positive net spend.
To be honest, I remain to be convinced that they will manage to get through the closing fixtures. It will be interesting to see how clubs approach the transfer market. I can see teams who perceive their squads needing strengthening going business although I think that transfer fees will tend to go down in value. I just wish that football had eased itself back to normality with the lower leagues first.
I'm hearing unconfirmed rumours that there will, in fact, be a summer of 2020. Reports that the earth will simply disappear in a puff of smoke on June 13th are reckoned to be wide of the mark, per Alan Nixon.
When Pierre was on his game last season I would say that he looked a £35m prospect, don't know what happened in the first half of this season (same with JWP) but his form was picking up before the break.
OK. Let's try and get this back on track.... Yes, Joakim Maehle still bubbles in the background despite him signing an extension at Genk (could just be a tool to demand a higher fee..). The other RB, as mentioned, is Deyovaisio Zeefuik if we opt not to keep Kyle Walker Peters. Then again we could make that KWP transfer permanent and let Valery go. Olivier Ntcham (Celtic) has been hinted as a possible replacement for Hojbjerg should they not feel Smallbone is quite ready. Harry Reed will join Fulham permanently I suspect. But CB is still our priority with Omar Colley (Sampdoria), Mohamed Simakan and Jean-Clair Todibo cropping up regularly in the rumours Milo Rashica (winger) also gets a mention but not sure we need another winger - especially if his real desire is to play for Liverpool!!! Would love to hear that one or two academy products are ready to step up but I think the new strategy is not to big them up but they just grab the chance when it is offered like Obafemi, Valery and Smallbone,
