Werner has agreed personal terms with Liverpool on a five-year contract that will pay the player around £140,000-a-week. McGarry went on to explain that his sources have told him that stories linking the player with Chelsea and Man United are wide of the mark, as although both clubs have made enquires about the German, they’ve both been told by his representatives that a move to Liverpool is almost done and that they should look at other targets instead. https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/06...agrees-140000-a-week-contract-with-liverpool/
Timo Werner: Chelsea agree deal in principle to sign RB Leipzig striker Chelsea have offered a £200,000-a-week contract to Werner; Germany international has €55m (£49.4m) release clause which expires on June 15 https://www.skysports.com/football/...-deal-in-principle-to-sign-rb-leipzig-striker
So the sitution seems to be, We've agreed with the player, Chelsea have agreed with the club. Which breaks first, Werners desire to play for us or RBL's demand for the release fee?
I doubt it. Chelsea gave Hudson-odoi a contract for 180k a week. Think only a couple of lfc players near that in Salah and vvd
Exactly....they don't have a great deal to write about at the moment so anything goes. One thing we know Klopp won't put up with is bullshit demands from players wanting to join LFC. Fekir springs to mind.
Pretty certain that was the club, not the player, in that instance. But no probs if that is the case with Werner - if we can't afford to pay £200k a week but Chelsea can, then fair enough. He's a good player, but he's not as important to us as Virgil of Allison or Mane.
Yeah, second by a long way behind United, but within a few million between us, City and Chelsea - but nobody believes City's figures, least of all UEFA.
If he wants £200k a week Klopp should tell him to get ****ed, its probably all BS anyway. Apparently Fekir starting making more and more demands the further negotiations progressed so we told him no thanks
If the current situation means things are financially tight that will apply to Chelsea aswell. Chelsea wouldn't be throwing around big weekly wages surely?
Who knows, there were all sorts of rumour and counter rumour. I think one of the Anfield wrap people mentioned some detail during a discussion. Whatever happened, I bet Fekir wishes the deal had gone through.
Great thread, for months it's been "he's ours, he's ours, Klopp want's him" Now it's, we don't need him, he's not worth it The Klopp magic and the German wish to play for him eh, what could go wrong
Would take him in an instant if we could get him on a two year contract. True Red and is performing to suit.
True, I think he's a top player and have been saying so for a long time. I really think we're missing out if we don't get him but also can't fault the way that we've progressed in recent years. So I still hope we get him but remain confident that the club are making the right choices.
