I am very positive about the possibility of a vaccine, and feeling a tad proud that it might be Britain who gets there first in developing one. BUT I also feel, and I suspect a lot of other people feel the same, that this is very early days, and we all know what hope does. There is a long way to go yet. As for the other, more negative stuff, that’s real, that’s happened and isn’t even a subject for speculation. I said when this crisis started that I thought the government were doing the right thing and that we should support them, and that recriminations should be left until afterwards. The problem is that every day that goes by with people at the front line not having enough PPE, or testing targets being woefully missed, the feeling grows that those running this show just aren’t up to the job.
I have stopped worrying about the virus and am more concerned about the ****ing aliens. A vaccine will not help us against them.
If we time it right, our second wave will hit the aliens like a sledgehammer. It'll all be over by Christmas
The article about a possible vaccine was an example I used to illustrate that there is positive news out there but people are concentrating on the negatives all the time. Other than myself, no one had liked or commented on the article (or even read it). The government's failures are what gets discussed all day, every day, its just a different version of the same conversation. I have mentioned this not as a Conservative supporter but as someone who at this time, can't see the point in always looking for the worst news. For one thing it won't make any difference, we are in the governments hands. Also, something perhaps people should consider; our other posters who are concerned about their own health and seeing themselves as vunerable. Negative posts day after day cannot be helpful for their general wellbeing.
Others on here had obviously read about the vaccine but perhaps like me they felt it was a bit early to start hanging up bunting? And criticising the government isn’t necessarily negative, it is also a way of building support for an alternative approach. The government have already changed course on several issues because of pressure from various quarters, why is that pressure suddenly a bad thing?
There's a difference between discussing something positive and hanging out the bunting Chilcs. I'm aware as well as yourself that a solution could be a long way off, it was mentioned in the article. The article was interesting and gave good information, you weren't encouraged to do somersaults afterwards. But no one is interested in an optimistic account it seems. Pressure on governments is not a bad thing but tell me how a few angry posters on a football forum are going to acheive anything? I repeat again, this thread consists of a number of like minded posters who like to swap stories about how bad things are. Anyone who disagrees is rounded on (not me in this case) to the point where they don't come on here anymore.
Well I think this conversation is an example of how things should proceed when there is a difference of views, perhaps we might set an example?
I just hope we can all stay safe and start arguing about Ralph’s stupid decisions soon. After all, that is the most important thing.
Spot on. Summed up how I feel and what I’ve been saying. I’ve given up, not on finding a vaccine but to have an alternative view.
Bit harsh that, mate. I’m not a fan of the finger pointing and judging we’re all being provoked into partaking in. Most people imo are doing their best in difficult circumstances, to behave responsibly. Meanwhile, the media are doing their best to drive a phony narrative about “selfish people ignoring the lockdown”. Everyone is making sacrifices imo, or almost everyone. The people who will be judged, at the appropriate time, will be businesses, employers, landlords, and government. Not the woman from the council estate who failed to keep her 4 kids locked down in a tiny flat 24/7
I’m not clicking on any Daily Mail links mate, but I assume these are examples of the Tory press criticising a Tory government? Progress if so.
Yeah it's basically the same ten people or so saying the same things. I'm only coming to this thread to check how Badger is getting along now tbh.
You must not criticise Ralph. He is doing his best and anyway criticising people who are incompetent is politics and should be on the politics thread.
