I find it odd that we're still having this conversation in 2020.

When even Gary Neville, who couldn't be more red, rates Levy as the best club chairman in modern times, above Man U current crop, you'd think we'd begin to appreciate what Levy is doing.

I'm not saying it's been a perfect ride, but we are clearly moving in the right direction.

The glory will come.

I don’t think Levy has done a bad job (bar hiring Mourinho) but there’s a lot to improve. Just my opinion but the club have peaked under ENIC and the direction I see going is back not onwards

You are totally missing the point. We've invested in things that matter in the long term. You lack ambition. A trophy every ten years isn't success. We need to become like Man Utd, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

How will Spurs become like Man Utd, Real Madrid and Bayern?

The most important thing for success is good players and winning trophies, that’s how you raise the profile and get people invested in the club. Nobody is going to support Spurs just because they have a new stadium or great training facilities

1 paltry League Cup in almost 20 years tells you all you need to know about ENIC, they are profit before glory merchants and more interested in property development than silverware. They have had opportunities to push us on to trophies when we were very well placed and when just some limited investment might have been enough, but they stood still and instead chose to focus on the balance sheet. I will change my avatar when / if we finally win a trophy, which will almost certainly be a long time yet.

Yeah, remember when we were pushing Leicester for the title and didn't invest in the squad the following summer?

Apart from spending £30m on Sissoko
Or spending £11m on Wanyama
And we also spent £17m on Janssen
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, we also kept the first team from the previous season together

If you're going to insult everyone's intelligence, at least have the courtesy to stand behind a lectern in Downing Street when you do so like the professionals do

I don't think our players over the last 10/15 years have expected to win things. Most know they are very good players but expect to come unstuck on occasions. We need fighters,a couple at least. How many games have we seen when our players "haven't turned up?"

I for one think Enic/Levy have done great. Yes, there has been some hiccups along the way, but the building blocks are there with a view to get Spurs winning things again. Everything in place now is a process to the end goal of winning competitions and making the club of the best in the PL.

debateable. two years ago i would have said definitely. Last year i would still agree.

This year has shone a light on the lack of team rebuilding consistently across the years and it looks like you boys are short in quite a few positions. The fact that you are currently in 8th place, behind wolves and sheffield united (who have played a game less) is a sad indictment of the downfall this season. Is it a blip? possibly but really the only notable injury this season has been Harry who has played half of it (son has come much later).

You need to rebuild your defence which has aged and your goalkeepers are middle of the road (lloris mistake prone and getting even older). You still don't have a backup for Harry and your central midfield is getting blamed for a lack of control game in game out (minus the marvelous lo celso). Your wingers are probably your strongest point.

I guess time will tell next year

Yes, I agree with you and everyone else that spur's need to focus on the squad and rebuilding the team. Like I say, the whole thing is a process. Training ground and stadium have been completed, Mourihno's appointment, much to the dismay of many, was part of this process to get Spurs to the top echelon, and believe it or not, some of Spurs recent transfer were an attempt to rebuild the squad. Some of the incomings haven't performed as well as expected but there has been some big purchases in the past year. It's a process and will take time.

But with CV19 and the lack of football, this will now put a dent in the programme. Somehow the stadium costs as still there to be paid despite no revenue. I suspect Levy will have to make some extremely difficult choices in the next transfer window.

Because the Portsmouth path is possible, but the Man City one is not.

When the likes of Mbappe go up for sale....I don’t think there’s any Spurs fan that expects us to be in the hunt

a bit more ambition is all we ask...not the pussy footing about with deals that are more than achievable for a club our size if someone at the top gave a proper **** about the success of the team

Yourself(and a few others)think the 8th richest club in the World risks losing everything if they show a bit more ambition?

If so, it’s just further proof that ENIC are in the wrong game

I agree with much of what you say, however to say that Harry has been our only injury of note is not quite right.

Lo Celso, Ndombele, Lloris, Davies, Sissoko, Lamela, Sessegnon, Kane & Son have all missed a significant number matches and whilst they are not all certain starters every week they would all make our matchday squad regularly when fit.

Fully fit Lloris, Davies, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Ndombele and Kane would all be starters in our current first team and they have all been frequently unavailable for selection due to injury. (they have started less 50% of matches between them)

People also often forget, Dier and Wanyama. Fully fit, they are arguably the best pair of DMs in any one current prem squad. Without either of them anchoring the midfield pivot we have been weak in the middle. They both had nightmare seasons of late. Dier hasn't returned to good form and Wanyama has been past his best since we left the old stadium, hence us getting rid.

The following is a short list of other clubs whose fans would echo that sentiment

Bayern Munich
Borussia Dortmund
Milan
Inter
Valencia
Monaco
Liverpool
Arsenal

On the other hand, the following is a complete list of teams whose fans have a reasonable expectation for that to happen
Barcelona
Los Ladrones do Madrid
The Sheikh Mansour Team
Chelsea

Can you and KingHotspur please start supporting the same team that the rest of us do?

All I ever hear from you is what about other clubs and their blah blah blah...who ****in cares?

I support Spurs I know where we are and I know where we can be

You don't support Spurs, you support an imaginary version of Spurs that has the disposable income to think "Ooh, Kylian Mbappe is available, best get the chequebook out" and that Spurs simply does not exist - because the number of clubs on earth who could genuinely think that can be counted on one hand

More than anything else, we do need to compare ourselves to other clubs - mainly to stop members of the Lunatic Fringe constantly bringing up Chelsea or The Sheikh Mansour Team as examples of clubs we should be emulating and expecting to be taken seriously
who’s we?

the same we that chased that poster that wanted Harry Kane gone?

STFU you and the other we’s

<laugh>
You mean the poster who the mods banned after they thought the smartest thing to do within ten minutes of the final whistle going in the Champions League final was create a thread almost literally saying "See? I told you we should sell Harry Kane"?

Don't act like I was the only one telling that moron to cut the ****, several of us were

stop bullying people that don’t have the same view as you...you have a tendency to do that and the Mods have a tendency to let it slide with you and the rest have a tendency to stick their tail between their legs when it happens

There are more ways than your way to achieve success...your a disgrace of an apologist mate...****in embarassing...you have zero ambition

some of us are not interested in spreadsheets like you are...some of us like to dream about the football..you crack on dreaming about Net spend trophies
