My point's a simple one RCL. Fate may deal Liverpool a bad hand this season; on the other hand, it may not. If it does, don't expect sympathy from clubs who suffered directly from the actions of their fans. Don't re-write history 36 years later. They were culpable and it still resonates now. It's vile to bring it up because.....? Because what? You want to bury the past? It was an English problem generally? It's the modern way of dealing with the sins of the past - like the Nazis, slavery etc? Just pretend it didn't happen and be outraged at digging it up? I'm not asking for the issue to be revisited though. Just an acknowledgement that when the word "unfair" is banded about that, in football terms, it doesn't actually get any more unfair than being banned banned from Europe because of the actions of fans of another club. Liverpool don't have the moral high ground here. To the contrary.
There will always be a caveat attached to this meaningless season whatever happens, Liverpool FC "Coronavirus Champions" 2020, as well as "VAR Champions" 2020. Understandably, the fans of a select few clubs are the ones most vocal in wanting the season completed, the rest are just slowly forgetting about football in these horrendous times, this season is now just about as insignificant as it gets.
Don't tell Sucky but.....weren't Liverpool about to crumble after those 3 defeats and hand City the title...………….?
We're going to be hearing a lot about Club Brugge being awarded the league because they were 15 points clear with one game to play, aren't we? ...we're also not going to hear anything about how that isn't the way the Belgian league usually works, aren't we?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52191140 Never accuse them of failing to do what suits them best in the court of popular opinion
Good move, voiding the Prem would have become universally popular save in Scouseland had they not rescinded.
I wonder if the top teams were pissed off with Hitler in season 1939/40...…..? But that was just war!
And they remain one of eight teams to have finished second in the top flight, but never won the league. Name the other seven?
The 70s and 80s were pretty cool for us... 2 league cups (71 and 73) 2 uefa cups (72 and 84) 2 fa cups (81 and 82) 6 trophies in 11 yrs is hardly slim pickings.
