I agree, so if they are saving the money from the wages and using a small % to keep the lights on at the club where are you suggesting the rest goes? Into a contingency type pot to pay wages when this is over and income is still lower for a bit?
Or are you saying that there is no “rest” and the club would have to be taking out loans to cover the wages if they weren’t furloughed? (Hungover and thick today)
At the minute each club faces the likelihood of at least a £35m TV clawback, plus refunding of tickets, sponsorships etc if the season doesn’t finish, So their income is currently £0, with the likelihood that it’s probably running at a huge deficit.
So players wages saved now, will offset some of the potential clawback and loss of revenue. The only reason this is even a debate and clubs haven’t just done it anyway, is due to the transfer value of players, as if they laid them off like any normal worker, then they could leave on a free.

I am getting more and more disillusioned with elite football (and other highly paid sports). I already knew the owner of my club was a ****, but it seems other owners are joining him, and now the top players are giving it a shot too. It's easy for me to say as I haven't shelled out for a season ticket like some on here, but I reckon we should show them how we feel about this with our wallets. Those who haven't already given the clubs their money through season tickets could take this into their own hands by deciding to lend their support to lower league and non-league clubs when football does return. Not forever, just long enough to make a point. They have all seriously misjudged the mood of the general public on this one.

Not much is being said about other rich people in society Rees Mogg being one of them his net worth is 150 million that's more then any premier league player surely he should take a pay cut on his MP salary but that's not being mentioned in the press
