I am trying to wake up some of the forum members with a simple trivia question. Who were the last 2 people imprisoned in the Tower of London.? There is a cryptic clue in the question.
Trivia isn't supposed to last long. Try this one, it's just as easy as the 1st one. Who was the last person executed at the Tower.
grumpygit - Trivia is supposed to be a little bit of 'fun' ! I knew the 'Kray' answer -- as for your 2nd question - I believe that it was a ' German ' - don't know the exact name - and I think his crime was along the lines of a War Criminal / spy or something similar
It was indeed Josef Jakobs, a German spy shot in August 1941. (he was actually born in Luxembourg) As an aside, Rudolph Hess also spent time there as a prisoner.
Another trivia question. I think most of you will know that Robert Stephenson designed the Rocket (I know Booth also had input) I think most will know it was designed for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway (the first passenger railway) My question is...what was the main design fault of the Rocket?
Thanks brb - I was afraid of upsetting grumpygit by providing a stupid answer - but if they're good enough for you...Here's my efforts; Originally I was going to say that, despite its' name - Rocket - that it was too slow - but I decided that wasn't a silly enough answer --- so this is the most stupid I can offer; was it unable to run because of leaves on the line ?
The Rocket was designed to be fast (for the time) The Rocket was designed to pull a large weight of carriages. On the first day of the Liverpool to Manchester line opening, during the opening ceremony the MP for Liverpool was run over and killed. The Rocket was about going fast, there was no provision made for stopping it.
I was thinking, it buckled it's wheels, the pistons were aligned differently to rest of its time, and grumpy gives us it couldn't stop
The strange thing is that even when trains did fit brakes, they would only be fitted to the guards wagon, that's why there were so many accidents in the early days.
Here is a football trivia question that should prove easier for people. A new football club called Dial square was formed in January this year, it is something of a phoenix club as the original team (of this name) changed to what ?
It's an interesting story, but I cheated so will not give the answer away. Other than say, I never knew any of this until I googled it.
