Put it this way mate. It's very recently that they decided to hand Donald £9 million. So why do that at virtually the same time they're ending all involvement and wanting their money back ... ... it makes no sense whatsoever. As they've quite amply demonstrated they're far from the kind of people who make random snap decisions.
If that's Donald talking he's saying the club may well not be sold this season ... ... he's so lacking in direction it makes me wonder how he finds his way home.
No, it says he's still looking to complete in February, but it would be a £35m deal, plus £5m if we go up this season.
Ongoing speculation and rumour has it, that some conspiracy theorists say that Sunderland AFC are going to be bought by Aliens. Namely Martians who have untold wealth from minerals on the red plant. It's a little know fact that the English Premier League is avidly watched on Mars, the intention is build the team up in their own image and get two promotions quickly. Football is difficult to play on Mars cos the gravity and atmosphere problem (indeed it is worse than Qatar, some say). Martians do not like to head the ball cos of their antenna. However Donald on handing over the keys to the stadium fully expects Sunderland to be the first club to have aliens in the team. Football authorities are not sure how to legislate for this. Donald is not bothered he has made a tidy profit and is off on holiday for 6 months. The press and TV are agog waiting to see the Alien owners of Sunderland.
I have to admit, the whole scenario does seems a bit strange no matter what your perception of it is. Here's hoping that something comes out of it.
Ah right, well in that case I reckon it's OK for me to say why the FPP deal stalled. After the deal was agreed Donald asked for a further £5 million for promotion and another £10 million for going up to the PL. If you don't appreciate this post, Mr Donald, you can sue me ....
I don't understand how he can ask for that. If it's being bought from him, he should hardly be rewarded for something someone else has achieved.
I wouldn't say this is entirely fair. If we get promoted this season, he would have a right to ask for a bonus based on that imo. If he's asked for £10m when we get to the PL that's ludicrous, but I guess it's all about what someone will pay.
This is a post by Grumpy Old Man that contains some interesting information ... "That makes no sense. All that does is interject another UK company into a chain. At some point there has to be a transatlantic shareholding. It brings additional admin with no tax benefits. What's more important is for them not to own the shares in Madrox as individuals. They have an appropriate vehicle in FPP Sunderland llc, which, of course, already has a financial relationship with Madrox. The original plan was almost certainly to buy Sunderland, not Madrox. If they were to buy Madrox, there was no need for FPP Sunderland Ltd (cf Short buying Drumaville, not Sunderland). The creation of the loan makes it more sensible at this point for the llc to buy Madrox, particularly if the intention is to do so by use of the buy-in clauses in the loan, allowing them to convert it into Madrox shares."
Sounds quite reasonable to me if it's time limited. It's a similar deal (but much less) to what was reported near the time it was leaked the takeover is off and they sacked. I think they (Sun or Mail?) said something like £15m + £25m for the two promotions.
He's full of crap & more worryingly a big percentage of our fan base believe him! Sooner he's gone the better.
Some of my sources are one or two steps detached ... ... but this one is a big name in Sunderland and locally connected. It's not Niall Quinn but that'll give you a guide ...
Very similar to what I said. I didn't read his first, honest! Edit: looks like I beat him to it anyway so we're both thinking the same thing
