I think both power and maguire get sucked in by their own publicity and get complacent. I thought maybe they had moved on from 1 good game, 1 ordinary game then 1 stinker. I dont expect Hollywood passes and john Wayne heroics every single game. I do expect effort every game as a minimum. Maybe this why this is as good as it gets with maguire. If he played as he can every game he would be playing at a much higher level. As for wyke??? Lots of effort but my god he has 2 left feet if I ever I saw it. Disappointing result but if we can win next 2 games we are still contenders. A new player and donald scuttling off somewhere that deserves him ( a seedy club ) would help
I thought Lafferty was good when he came on. The ball stuck a lot better than it did with Wyke and he was able to bring others into the game. Once he gets fully up to speed and starts games, it wouldn't surprise me to see our whole midfield scoring more.
I think he's suffering from the legacy of Grigg and Wyke arriving then failing to do the business. In my opinion Lafferty is a much better fit/player for us and I think he'll do well. Like any striker he needs to get his fitness and confidence up but he's a big boy and experienced enough to cope with the pressure.
Strange isn’t it. In the midst of our disbar rum, our fans (some of them) would’ve said that was a poor performance. Yet a lot are accepting that Doncaster did a job. They’ll lose their next game. They were put on their feet and could hardly kick the ball second half!!
What I couldn’t work out about the Wyke booking was that their #2 had dived about 5 minutes before it. The ref gave a goal kick and nothing else. It was literally one rule for them and one fir us
I think Robson is the better option to cover Dobson or Power in midfield at present. If not for unfortunate injury's and loan spells, he would have been on a par with Hume and Dobson and better than Power at first team level today. My worry is that due to pressure, volatile supporters, etc PP will take the safer option of Leadbitter. In a recent interview PP talked freely of his admiration of Embleton, while remaining embarrassingly silent about Robson, is this because he currently has no decisions take on one, while reluctant to take any on the other. I too would like to see O/9 in the middle if we had a decent right back option but we don''t. He and Hume are doing fine as wing backs currently and Hume's second half performance yesterday was outstanding. It may be more than coincidence that Hume, Robson and Embleton all benefited from Robbie Stockdale's tenure at the academy, who knows, but lets hope that this legacy is not wasted by indecision and fear and that we see all three being given a run in the first team some day soon. OaU
Did you see how outraged he was about Wyke's 'dive' his eyes were bulging out of his head with the moral outrage. Yet he must have known Halliday dived or where was the free kick for the foul? He was a jumped up little arsewipe.
I don't know what's going on with Robson but it's a concern with him not making the squad, I agree that he'd be better in this setup than Leadbitter who wouldn't work as one of two CMs. Mind you Parkinson did make a comment about players knocking on the door to get in the squad who deserve a chance so maybe he will get a crack.
You know all I ask for is consistency However that’s exactly what we have got Pure bad referring consistent The proof is there to see
From what I remember, having not watched any replays yet, he made four rank bad decisions, three against us and one for, the booking of Wyke being shocking, but it could have been a lot worse if he had been totally biased or agenda led, he was just plain useless.
It could also be that he thinks Embleton is a better player and Robson doesn't have a future here. Parkinson has breathing space to try anything he wants. If he's not picking Robson it's perhaps because he doesn't rate him.
Thats my worry now, and why I'm expressing it, they are very different, yet complimentary midfield players, both good enough for us this season and both have higher level potential, I think we are shaping up to make yet another massive error of judgement, that someone somewhere will benefit from, could even be of Maja proportions long term.
I'm not gonna blame the ref for our performance. Maybe I would if a poor decision cost us a goal. You win some, you lose some. TBH our performances in the last month have definetly improved but it is inevitable they are going to be difficult to sustain week in week out Im a realist.................
He was an apology for a referee. The standard in league one is poor but this bloke was way below that standard.
