We'd be foolish to let him go. We gave him a run of games at the start of the season when nothing was working very well, and now we look better and he looks better we are thinking of helping Leeds out. Daft. The kid should back himself & tell the club he's staying and fighting for his place.
Could be he wants more playing time and he is behind Long and Ings in the pecking order. The agreed future fee is odd if that is correct though
If we let him go and Ings gets injured then we're stuck with Long and Obafemi as our strike partnership...
If Ralph wants him to stay I'm sure he will. He looked happy enough yesterday and surely the board would not want to piss Ralph off when things are just starting to look a bit better.
Shane is certainly robust, but can’t score. Obafemi scores but appears to made of glass. I love Shane and have high hopes for Obafemi, but wouldn’t want to be relying on either to keep us up.
if Ings gets injured I wouldn't be too confident in any of our other strikers to score a lot of goals, whether Adams is one of them or not
Someone should tell them what each place is in the table is worth. The difference between our current position and 17th is approximately one Che Adams, at the mooted price. And that doesn't include the ancillaries (more games picked for TV, better gates, more merch sales because people aren't embarrassed to wear a Saints shirt, etc). Not that selling Adams is worth five places in the table, but in a season where the table is so compressed, a few points can make a significant financial difference.
I call bullshit. Ridiculous to even think of selling him. Long and Ings are making a deadly partnership as first choice but Adams and Obafemi made a good partnership against Chelsea. We are going to need that cover at some point, almost guaranteed. Selling to make back money we didn't get in the summer makes no sense either. Even an idiot knows that selling a 14m player for 10m is not making you any money.
Depending on how it's structured, it's quite possible that we'd break even in buying for "14m" and then selling for 11m. If there are any incentives, we almost certainly wouldn't have paid a pence on them. That doesn't mean that it isn't dumb as all hell, however.
So people stressing about Ings leaving the other week, now Adams leaving this week..... WTAF people, don't believe everything you read in the papers. He's back in the team and playing well, he won't be agitating for a move, he looks very committed to our cause, it won't happen.
