Just had a look at Man Utd’s results that season. They lost more games than I thought they had. Norwich had it over them that season, first team to beat them at end of September, only one from what I could see that took 3 points, in those of 2 points for a win, off them, and beat them in the League Cup semi-final.
For those lucky enough to have been about at the time played a part in one of the most memorable days in our lives. RIP.
**** it, it has to be posted. RIP Martin Peters, you will always be a legend of the English game and that afternoon in 66 will make sure your name is remembered evermore.
I think it is a fair assumption that even if England won the World. Cup again that 50 years after the players won’t be regarded with as much affection as that group of modest, humble players are.
Yes, it's a sad day seeing that Martin Peter's has passed away. As reported he was probably the first of the modern-day footballer, great player and an important part of the jigsaw that put together a World Cup-winning team by Alf Ramsey. RIP Martin.
Melanie Panayiotou was found dead on Christmas Day, aged 59, three years to the day since the death of her brother George Michael.
