I never thought I'd mention this from the giddy heights of 17th place in the PL but . . . . . WARCHEST !!!
What could save him is who comes in ? Everton is a poisoned chalice at present. The likes of Poch will treat it like the unclean rag it is. Of course they could always try Mr S. Allardyce.
I like the way he doesn't clutter it up with boring stuff like tactics, or possible teams, puts "more to follow" and then adds nothing. Keep it up Jonny
Can't underestimate how important these last two matches have been going forward. There has been a confidence issue with the players at SMS to see results over the line for a long time now especially against so called lesser teams and the nerves around the whole place is palpable (and understandable!) Danny is having an inspired season and I knew we'd have a player on our hands when he was back to full fitness, the gamble on him has certainly paid off. His enthusium is rubbing off on the others too and the forward press was great especially in the first half with Shane being the nuisance he usually is. The midfield worked a lot better tonight with Pierre and JWP(great set pieces from him tonight) having their best games for a while although it's still not quite coming off for Redders atm. I must praise Jack too, he was solid alongside the impressive Bedders and both fullbacks were good going forward with no obvious mistakes from anyone tonight. This is just a start against teams that we should probably beat at home, but these kind of fixtures have caused us trouble and contributed to the lack of confidence at home. If we can maintain the away form, i'm sure that we can start climbing the table and have a decent season after all.
Ings on a blistering run. JWP in great form and Long was also very useful. The back 4 were great, until Cedric decided to go walk about for most of the second half. The last 20 minutes was too much tension for someone of my age and I do believe Russian roulette would be less stressful. Oh well, bollocks to the heart attack, we got another 3 points so who gives a crap. Happy days and may the rest of your week be a good one.
I just got home after a meeting, and caught up with things by reading this thread. Thanks for an entertaining few minutes read guys, and I take it it’s worth staying up until midnight to get the replay on Prime? COYR!!!!
The good news for Southampton is that we have beaten the teams that we need to beat this season. Yes, the Bournemouth and Burnley defeats were disappointing but beating Watford, Norwich, Sheffield United and Brighton are all important signs. We will have a better idea by January how good or bad we are, once we have played everyone.
