Well I take your point, but even the stewards in F1, look at dodgy overtaking etc and it is fast moving. Also I am not sure if big screens are at all grounds (bindippers and manure?) If they are I cannot see why some replays cannot be shown to everyone...also rather than adding time, freeze the clock so we know when the match will end
I was totally for it. Now it seems to be used wrong, and not like they did in the WC when refs checked the video themselves. There were always going to be teething problems, and maybe they can still make it work, but when you see fans celebrate, then get called back to wait for a few minutes to confirm, that totally takes the euphoria of celebrating a goal.
Was always against it One of the best **** ups I saw was in the confederations cup as they were traili ng it The ref sent off the wrang player even after looking at VAR
The problem being the English officials using it. No coincidence none of them was deemed to be of a standard for the World Cup in Russia, first time that has ever happened. nothing wrong with the system accept the incompetent use of it by the English officials.
Need a team to score and do a non celebration. Score and all players just turn round like robots and walk back to the half way line ready for kick off. VAR has taken the passion out of football.
What pisses me off about it marra taking away the instantaneous of the game Before if it was a goal you'd gan mental Now you have to wait takes all the enjoyment out of it
get shot of VAR i say. That coupled with the 5 replays of a shot on goal and the constant showing off the dug out every 5 mins or showing a player close up and you miss something like our play off final goal is ruining sky football.
The authorities which is typical of the FA or premiership who run it Really never thought it through One good thing about it brought plenty of debate the very thing they said it would take away
As much as it needs either bining off or used properly, the Premier league have backed themselves into a corner for this season. If they use it properly from now there will be an outcry from decisions that it shouldn't have been used for it and they can't bin it after promoting it so much. It's a hell of a mess and I doubt they know how to get round it this far into the season
The problem is not with the technology, it's with the rules that are being applied. For a start some bright soul has gone for seeking 100% perfection. That could never happen, no matter how long someone stared at a screen. If it was used to correct clear obvious errors though, most of these could be corrected in seconds. Some things would need to be ignored, like someone's little finger nail being off side by less than an inch. The ability of the Ref to look at the pitch-side monitor if he feels the need to check a decision would be good. As would the question, 'can I award a' (much used by rugby refs). So before binning the whole thing, lets try and get the rules/guidelines improved.
Offside decisions are judged from the moment the ball is played forward, but it's a mater of opinion as to when the boot of the player passing the ball actually makes contact. It's therefore back to a matter of judgement which was supposed to be a thing of the past.
It's bad enough watching it on TV, in the ground it must be a nightmare. Can I celebrate that goal or was there a foul etc somewhere in the build up?
