I couldn't afford them mate

Just pointing out to Astro that money means **** all. You ended up having to pay big for a CB and Keeper but have dropped lucky with a RB from your academy.
The other CB was a punt that worked out really well for £0 and the LB a shrewd buy before anyone else stepped in.

I am not a great believer in the myth that some mangers coach a player to be better, the team yes but not a player.

Man City have spent over £200m on their academy too.

And a beautiful building it is too <ok>

You need to get out in the world and see what City's owners are doing for the area and people in it, they are spending hundreds of millions on the community and youth of the area (i was taking the piss about the building/ground), their academy is home to hundreds of kids who are being given a good education and start in life.

So Pep was too busy with community work to bother coaching his players?

Pretty sure they have other people to deal with community work, you should know that being a Liverpool supporter.

So what was Pep's excuse for "only" having a crap £200m defence again?

Surely the point is that City are complaining (or the media are making excuses on their behalf) that injuries have stalled their title defence, when in reality they have assembled the most expensive squad in the world in order to guard against such issues?

Pep has spent £380m just on his defence since joining City. The free pass given to him by the media is astonishing.

That's a spectacularly daft statement.
Just because you can spend a lot and get a turkey doesn't mean money doesn't matter. With enough of it you can keep buying turkeys until you get a...a erm whatever you get that isn't one. :)
You say astro should get out more, but perhaps you should look a little further than your team's (and ours) privileged position and see how some less favoured clubs feel when they see a billion-pound squad struggling with a couple of injuries.
Take a look a little further down the league. While there's still some beneath you. <whistle>
