Just realised I've picked collection n not gonna get a chance to though. Anyone successfully rang up and changed before?
I think Bompey's motivation is getting their foot in the derby door. I think all the talk of next week is actually annoying them. If they can win on Friday, then they will feel relevant, something that they really crave. I'd take a draw right now if we come through unscathed. Don't rush Nathan back, and no silly reds.
I refer to Bompey as the Mini-skates during football chats at work which everyone finds hilarious. One of the guys (from Blackburn) asked why we call Pompey "skates" and was quite taken aback when I explained with an entirely straight face, that they **** fish. I love any kind of rivalry, because that's just how I am but I won't accept another South Coast Derby having any importance because there can be only one as Highlander taught me
Yeah no need to rush Redmond back at all give him the weekend off and hope he's ready for Tuesday. I'll take no injuries or red cards as a successful evening
Like someone else said, I think Bompey are gutted that we really aren't that bothered. I spoke to my neighbour today, he is going in the Bompey end and was trying to gee me up. I said, yep it's important to win, but the really important game is on Tuesday. He looked gutted. Like someone who had just been told that he is invited to the pre party, but not to the main party.
Yeah I read a comment on their forum who seemed genuinely surprised that we think Tuesday is the bigger game It's definitely annoying some of them that we're even less bothered than usual, and that the cup draw has taken the shine off their biggest game of the season. They had their chance to make a rivalry of it when they could have effectively relegated us under Hughes and they bottled it as usual.
When I say "Bompey" , what I actually think is "Bompey, ah bless 'em" Thankfully I don't know any Bompey fans cos I'm sure the condescension shows on my face
Liked them enough to play a benefit friendly and fill their charidee buckets.... Mind you I was one of the multitude from Southampton that used to descend on the clubs of Bournemouth every weekend during the summers of the late 70/80s and cause havoc. That might've caused a bit of resentment with the locals! Used to have to lie to the bouncers about having a Poole address to get in IIRC!
