Just wondered what everyones thoughts are on him? Personally have never rated him that highly - just another Shane Ferguson. I remember when Liverpool sold Sterling to Man City and people were saying Aarons was better yet when I tried to argue he is worth at most back then was £1M. Fast forward several years and still nothing done. Appeared to have a reasonable pre-season yet he has today signed on loan for Wycombe Wanderers (not sure if this is an Aarons standard issue or another ****ty Shola attempt).
Aside from Mitrovic, I've never wanted a player to succeed as much at the club as I do Aarons. Starting to think its not going to happen though
I don't get the point of these loans. Either he's good enough to be part of the squad or he isn't. I've always rated the lad and he again showed his quality last on loan at Sheff Wed. Had a good pre season and then Bruce bombed him out the 25 man squad. That says to me they don't rate him. If that is the case he should have been shipped out in the window permanently. I gave up on him as a perma crock I have to say after the season before last. As I say I don't doubt his natural talent but being brutal he hasn't actually developed that much since he burst on the scene. He has been injured for most of that time so that will be the reason for that. Unfortunately you can't wind back the clock or get that time back. He's 23 now so its time to move him on. Whether you were right or wrong back then is impossible to say. His value was clearly more than £1m at the time because the likes of Man C and Liverpool were showing minor interest. He's English. However I'd be surprised to find anyone from back then backing him now with everything that has transpired. You can have great potential at 19 which makes people want to take a punt and pay a bit. At 23 I'm afraid you have to have realised that potential or at least some of it. I'm not sure he's moved on at all.
Never really rated him - like I say he looked as good as Shane Ferguson, maybe a bit more flair. Never saw it in those early matches either. Has had a few chances out on loan and never did anything. I assumed he had been fairly ok at Wednesday and in preseason but considering Bruce was manager in both instances then you have to assume he doesn't rate him as highly as some people on here.
Had promise but hasn’t progressed since his initial coming on to the scene. He’s now 23 yo and hasn’t done enough to merit staying. Sell.
Most won't have rated/don't rate Atsu either... I think Aarons had a real shot at being better than Atsu, much more talented technical player. He's looked good in pre-season games and the handful of appearances he has had. We aren't privy to the stuff behind the scenes, hence the guessing. Maybe he just doesn't fit in with the squad, or maybe he's not happy here. I see them as more likely reasons than his fragility, especially at our club!!! We love broken players so much we got Carroll back.
He's ****e, have 2 memories of him and neither good, bad hair and playing left full gave away a peno and my view never had what it takes, sorry. There's been better players let go over the years, just saying.
it's always a joy to watch quick dribbler wingers taking on defenders and creating goal scoring opportunities, particularly from the byline. Sadly, Aarons, Atsu, Kennedy, ET Al, do the first bit, but not the crucial second.
Al was never about creating opportunities - more about putting them away and he was quite good at that.
Aarons I think has passed his sell by date. I suspect we are being greedy and dont want to sell him just in case he suddenly comes good but I don’t think its going to happen.
He's done well wherever he has went on loan generally. It matters not though when each loan contains minimal games. In the last 5 years he has never managed more than 13 games for any club. I think last season was the first time he got to 20 games over two different loan spells. Sometimes you have to accept some players will never be physically strong enough to cope with the demands of the game. Looking above I'm not sure anyone rates him highly now. As I say potential at 18 is great, potential at 23 is hopeful.
I remember the cup match against Man City in 2014 where he was an absolute beast for the 1st 45, last time i can remember him actually doing anything of note.
Injured constantly, clearly isn't strong enough to have a successful career as a footballer. His skill is irrelevant if he's crocked for 6 months every time he's challenged. He makes Kieron Dyer look like He-Man. Get rid.
He's a luxury player, not strong enough to manage more than 15 games a season. I don't think we are a club that can afford to let luxury players hang around.
