My gut feeling is it would not be more expensive in the long run to give Taylor a big rise and keep a proven goalscorer, than to sell him in january, and bring in a striker who maybe doesn't 'click', and scores less goals. Taylor is a machine at the moment - it would be terrifying to lose him. There is a b side to this in that we have a wage structure which seems halfway between the bottom of the Championship and the middle of league 1. If we bust this for Taylor, we would have done something that would make sense to most of us fans. But how long before other squad members start wanting similar wage rises? I wonder whether Bowyer could persuade Lyle to stay for a lesser offer than some he may recieve - other clubs like Derby and Middlesbro obviously have a different scale on these things, and a 20 goal a season striker is a real temptation. But Taylor will be 30 next march. He will probably go for the best deal available, and we cannot compete with that.
i appreciate LT's goals. but last night he didnt work as hard as a lot of the other players. he played two suicide passes that i can remember and left a team mate injured. his attitude towards the fans seems a bit off aswell; so if he does go, he wont go down as massive loss to me. his goals will be missed, but not the ego. the bad bit is that we definitely wont be given his fee to reinvest. imagine what bowyer could do with backing.
You must have watched a different game to me. I remember him covering at right back and he was pulling Forest players all over the place. Unfortunately Taylor will be gone in January and it will be impossible to replace him on our budget. The amount of goals he has scored in the Championship will alert bigger clubs than Brentford. Didn't that font of Football knowledge @baraettmattesvensson say that he will only score five goals this season?
Let's hope Hemed comes good, and Bonne gets himself ready by January. I don't expect Aneke to fill the gap from what I've seen, although you never know. As SIG says, if only Bow and Gallen could get their hands on the Taylor money. I'm not considering any possibility of Taylor staying.
I’m sure they want to loan Bonne out, but can they ? Tomer is the replacement for Taylor IMo. He’s nearly 30, and has had a journeyman career up to now. The January deal is a 3 year contract on more than double the money plus a signing on fee. He won’t be staying with us
Lyle Taylor is not a happy man tonight - fans have visited his house asking for autographs - a fan stood on his foot today - a fan called him a “tart” today #AllAboutLyle
he's not bought into the charlton thing. for every up, he mentions a down. i appreciate his goals but off pitch he's a bit mouthy
Good news if true. It was starting to damage him. Heard a couple of snippets about him too from inside the club. He’s had one good season in a journeyman career. I think it’s gone to his head.
