Having watched training this morning, this looks like the starting line up tomorrow ...............…..Phillips Solly... Lockyer… Pearce... Purrington ……….. Pratley ……….. Gallagher …. Williams …. Cullen ….. Taylor …… Leko AllHell PS, ….. didn't see any issues with Taylor at training..
Really looking forward to this one Used to love first home games of every season, and I haven't looked forward to one so much since 2013-14. Championship opposition (beatable) + new players + serious weather + Big home support = cracking afternoon at the Valley I'm predicting a 2-1 home win
An attendance of around 18,000 is predicted today. Looking forward to utilising my new ST in support of Bowyer & the players.
Taxi for Phillips. We are lucky it's still 1-1 and we have to cut out the silly mistakes. But we still have a chance of winning this...
Well that was fantastic. Especially the result. I clocked on to the BBC after 60 mintes - they had 51 per cent of the posession, shots was something like 9-3 in their favor and on target was 4-2 in their favor, so without being there, it sounds like a game that could have gone both ways. On the other hand people are talking marvels about the lad from Chelsea, Aneke, and the midfield in general. I also read that Solly was making mistakes. But the best was the result. I was honestly worried we might not pick up any points at all in august back in september. This is a sort of preseason for a good bit of our team, so six points on the board is a handsome start. I don't want to get carried away (we are second but the two teams we have beaten are propping up the table ) and there¡s a ong way to go. Last time we got relegated, we beat Hull 2-1 and looked magnificent - the way the rest of the season unravelled bore no resemblance to that afternoon. However, we have Bowyer now, someone who can get a team to perform to 120% of their potential. I still expect defeats and rotten afternoons. But we are off to a flyer, and look as if we have a squad to reckon with. Exciting times- bring it on!
First half we were lucky not to be behind. Stoke closed us down and were the better team. They seemed to target Solly, who is a shadow of the player he was. Second half we came out much more direct, worked harder and got our reward. Williams put in a fantAstic shift, and Gallagher looks a terrific signing. Taylor is fine, no problem. If Jackson is the defensive coach he's got to stop all this tapping around the back four and goalie. The first half was horrible in this respect.
I think it has taken Bow 8 months to get Williams properly fit..... and a fit Williams is some player
