    Yes because its about context.

A seemingly racist comment can be something altogether. Being called a daft English ****/ya English **** by somebody from Scotland can be light hearted. The context is not oppressive.

    Context has to be considered.

Does suggesting that Western Culture can be superior to one that brutally oppresses people for what they are or for mere lifestyle choices make you a racist? No.

    Cheers for your reply <ok>

It was a genuine question from me. Personally I think his comment about burka's are letter boxes was a tad racist. But at the same time one of his best friends is Priti Patel and he is also good friends with Sajid Javid. And if they voted for Boris for PM and remain good friends with Boris, then they don't obviously see Boris as racist!

This is basically the same as... I can't be racist! I've got friends that are black!

    So predictable it's incredible.

Another genuine question here... if you had a good mate that said something that you thought was racist towards your own race or something racist in general towards any race, would you remain good friends with them because you know them well enough to know that they are not actually a racist person? Or would you be calling him a racist and end your friendship? Again, its a genuine question.

Clearly Boris has to think before he opens his mouth and that will be hard for a blithering idiot because he can be his own worst enemy.

I don't find anything he's said is racist.....maybe some find it offensive....but so does taking the Micky out of ginger people or people that support the Gas.
You don't like Boris, you don't like Brexit and are looking to justify your argument......but to be honest, I find it desperate!

Boris Johnson did not say the Burka should be banned as he felt people should be allowed to wear what they want, but he felt it was ridiculous. Again its about context.

Do you think the wearing of the Burka is odd, ridiculous a bit weird? Do you feel it inhibits normal social interaction. Answer yes … A tad racist or something else?

Patel has criticised racism in the Conservative party but backed Mr Johnson over his letterboxes remark. She made the point about context as well.

Right! I'm confused. I think you have taken my post the wrong way.

I originally asked a question if someone can say something racist and not actually be a racist.
You replied yes as context need to be considered.
I then replied back to you pretty much in agreement with you that someone can say something racist but not actually be a racist. I used the example of Boris liking the burka to a letter box being as a tad racist. And I say it was a tad racist because it was mocking the burka. He could have just said the burka doesn't inhibit normal social interaction in the UK or something similar. But he chose to mock it instead. It should not have been said. But to me, although I feel it was a tad racist, I don't believe he is a racist because those around him, such has Patel and Javid, obviously don't see Boris as a racist. They know him well enough to know he is not actually a racist, otherwise they wouldn't support him or even be his friend.
With your comment and my comment, this will show Rob that I feel he is wrong to be calling Boris a racist.

So again, my original question that you answered, I agree with. So I don't get your comment now, which seems like you are trying to debate with me a subject that we agree on? You seem to think I said Boris said the burka should be banned. Not sure where you got that from. And you ask me questions about the burka. Not sure why.

Again, his burka comment about letter boxes wasn't needed and I feel it was a tad racist. But I don't believe for a second that he is a racist. So there is no debate with you. Is there? Hence my confusion about your latest reply!

I understood your post. I reacted to the use of tad racist. Mocking religion in a Western society is not racist or Islamophobia. That freedom is part of our society, and at this point despite the left wing attempting to erode of freedom of speech.

A parallel bands like Crass and the Subhumans mocked, insulted and vehemently criticised Christianity. Many other do similar. That was not considered racist, or even and racist. There are left wing schools of thought that criticise the patriarchal nature of Christianity. Again not considered racist.

But Johnson use of letterbox is? Well it displays a hypocrisy prevalent in left wing identity politics and criticism of Islam.

Righto, now I am no longer confused. Cheers for clarifying <ok>

I will though stick with my opinion that letter boxes was a tad racist but I don't believe he is a racist <ok>

Now he is the PM, I think we can (or should) agree that he needs to think before he speaks!
