I would be surprised if we got anything like 1.5m for Bart. Highest earner at the club and need to get him off the wage bill. When he signs, I think fee will be “undisclosed” but will probably be nearer 500k than 1.5m
So Harrison off to Pompey, reportedly for £450k, which is almost half the £750k we paid for him last summer! I know he struggled here, mostly due to injuries, but that’s quite a cut and, unlike Jackson, Harrison actually has a decent goal scoring record at this level. If he ends up firing Portsmouth to promotion, particularly at our expense, then this deal is going to look bonkers.
With regards to Harrison, who’s judgement do you trust more?Hurst for bringing him here or Lambert for moving him on?Not sure myself.
Issue is, what's it going to cost to get a proven L1 goalscorer? Probably more than the 450 we got from Harrison. Will be interesting to see how much, if any, of the sell-on fees we'll be getting will go to new purchases. If they all do move on for the reputed sums, that's an additional 3m or so for us. If we can get 3 750k players, I'd be more than happy with our squad.
With the loss of tv revenue, I would guess very little (if any) of the money from the sale of Bart & Harrison as well as add ons from Clarke etc will be invested in the squad, PL has basically stated he will be shopping in the bosman market. Definitely need a cb & 2 full backs before start of season. I was hoping they would arrive before pre season to give them time to gel with the rest of the squad
I wish we were making the money off the likes of Clarke and Webster, not the bloody sell on percentage. I always knew Portsmouth would make money off that deal. I said at the time I bet they get at least a million for Clarke in a year or two. Looks like they'll get a kickback from the Webster deal too, nice bit of business for them. They will make 20% of the 10% we make from the deal, man we're a ****in' soft touch when it comes to deals. We have had a couple of cheap buy, sell for more players but Harrison is another example of buying high and selling for less or getting nothing back on a player. We have seen plenty of lads come through the PR doors but we just aren't very streetwise when it comes to making good money with player sales.
Forgot to say, I'm going to state it now that I think selling Harrison to Pompey is stupid and we'll see him do well for one of our new rivals.
It’s all a symptom of the same problem. As long as we are poor at making the most of players then players with good potential will leave for less than their potential having underperformed and will go on to do well at other clubs or go for bigger fees. There are just dozens of examples of this now. Harrison will come back to bite us and allowing him to go to Pompey is nothing short of ridiculous.
Forest Green Left Back Mills looked good against Tranmere and would be worth a go in my opinion, and our near Billionaire owner allowing Clubs such as Peterborough to outspend us heaps yet more shame on our Club.
A lot of good players at Forest Green but the culture there must play a big part in that. I think they will come up next year.
3 million generated in player sales but do you honestly think that Evans will reinvest it into our playing squad?
https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/36206/barts-millwall-move-off Another player injured shocker!! Negotiating ploy or real problem??
I'm not worried either way he stays or he goes, what's worrying me more is our lack of activity in the transfer market, the players are back for pre season and we have got Norwood, Holy, and one other keeper whose name I can't remember, for Christ's sake we are threadbare of quality all over the pitch so when are we going to address this problem ? Are we going to address this problem ? Can it be very soon please ? I think the answer is no, no, and no.
I'm seriously managing my expectations FM and counsel the rest of you to do the same. Given Evans' track record I will see any further significant signings as a bonus Further borne out by this: https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/36211/lambert-were-still-looking-at-free-transfers
Agreed, Big Al, I have quietly reseigned myself to the upcoming season, dont expect any sensational signings or indeed football on the park, tbh. However, if we do get our recovering players back to fitness - and refreshed our injury/management/fitness & recuperaton methods, and can get off to a flyer with the 2 aways and a home, with a needless Carbacao cup game between - then we should push on and be in contention come the Autumn. But dont hold yer breath! We all know the ins & outs of this once great club and I just hope that lambert comes back fresh and ready to gee up the boys.
I knew we couldn’t expect much but at the moment, the only defenders we have are Kenlock, Emmanuel, Chambers, Nsiala & Wolfe - unless I’ve missed someone. Maybe Skuse is the 4th centre back?? But there is absolutely no cover at full backs apart from youth players
I'm had some optimism about the season ahead and to be fair the first 2 signings seem pretty good. However Lamberts comments today really concern me, are we really prepared to only get free transfers yet still selling players to our competitors? Sounds like last summer all over again!!
