I would prefer a young hungry manager to some of these old stagers that are being bandied about. If they can’t get the lad from Lincoln, get Rosy.
The only place that Appleton has had a good run of coaching was at Oxford, a team he got promoted from L2 and to two EFL finals - everywhere else were real basket case clubs i.e. Portsmouth, Blackburn and Blackpool, clubs with **** owners where he never really had much of a chance. I'd have preferred Adkins to have stayed but, I'll back whoever we get.
I'm not a pessimist by nature but I think we'll rue the day we treated Nigel Adkins like a greenhorn **** in the management business. Quite frankly, the state we're in, there will be no one better.
I feel this may be the case. But you never know. Right appointment and he unearths a couple of gems and we’re ok.
The thing that worries me about Adkins leaving is that he was such an optimist, the deal offered must have been really bad for him to walk
Zola is leaving Chelsea, apparently his preferred choice is to stay in England, he was heavily linked with us before.... Zola as a player fantastic but I’m not sure about him as a manager
Not my first choice but he would certainly bring better loans that the 3 we had from Chelsea the season before last who wrre poor. Those 3 will imo never be regular pl players. As with Todd Kane, clubs chasing him just cos he is ex Chelsea? He did ok maybe better than ok but villa, derby etc? Just not sure why, elmo was 2x the player?
Tomori - Derby’s player of the season as they reach the Play Off Final. Aina - successful season leading to a nine million euro transfer to Torino. They’ve kicked on since their season with us, that’s for sure.
And Hector was player of the season at massive but all 3 were poor for us. Tomori was the pick of the 3 and with all Derby's fire power could not get promoted. Wednesday were average at best and Aina I have not seen but how his record with us and 20 odd games for Torino makes him a €10m player is beyond me. Like Todd Kane none of these 3 shoulder ever play for Chelsea in the EPL. We were stitched up that season in my opinion.
From what I remember, Zola was at Watford when we went up automatically in 2nd... He had them playing some cracking football. Id take him as a manager over Appleton any day.
