One option my cousin was looking at was flying to Faro and hiring a camper van to then do a drive into Madrid which I think he said would take around 6-8 hours. Camper van holds four people but five of us will likely go if we do decide to do it. Think he said we’d be looking at around £350 per person plus the cost of petrol and then spending money.
Shame others do not share your morals... Note ... not a comment on anyone here...just on those who used to sell their tickets onstub hub at ticket toutprices
Paris Madrid on the train has seats available, £306 return 9 hours 38 minutes Eurostar to Paris is £76 cheapest
How cool to do it in a camper van. So envious. The Scousers are going in a Ford Sierra Mk I nicked on Wednesday.
Rather bizarrely, when Coca-Cola were going to bring in vending machines that would increase the price as temperatures rose, there was uproar and they dropped it. If we want to stop this stuff, we just have to stop paying for it.
That's me then. My brother bought flight tickets as soon as we beat City and a hotel on a free cancellation deal. I should have done the same...
When I ran a business in France I employed 4 Scousers. Interesting characters. They were proud of their part in the Toxteth Riots, they told me that they spent their time nicking tv's and stereos from retailers after breaking shop windows to enter. They were not silly though, they sole a bilge pump of a boat in St Tropez harbour, wired it up in the boot of their stolen mini and could open their boot, put the discharge pipe into their fuel tank, crack the fuel tank on any parked car and fill their mini in under 6 seconds, quite impressive really.
Waiting for confirmation - source is an A/Mad season ticket holder...... No price yet and travel still up in the air..... Or on the tracks
Premium seats don't seem to get loyalty points but I've just had an email saying that I can apply to go in a ballot for the Cat 1 or Cat 2 tickets. I had a look at the Thomas Cook web-site which has a day trip from Stansted from £550 but you can only buy the air ticket once you have been allocated a ticket by the club and they don't expect to be able to accommodate everyone who wants one (which I suppose isn't surprising since 16,000 tickets is 100 plane loads).
I’m on 181. Which would mean that as long as my maths is correct, judging by this table the lowest I can be is around 18,900 (which I won’t be seeing as I’m 30 points above the 150 cut off). I’d guess that I’m around 17,000, possibly even 16,000. So I’d say there’s a decent chance I’ll get offered one as I doubt every single person in front of me will buy a ticket.
