.... other than the fact that he can't score goals in senior football at this level??!!

Bizarre move by Ipswich who are desperate for someone to score goals for them. Likely sealed their already sealed fate.

Those arguing one way or the other are either arguing if they (in his shoes) would have made a financial decision (Stoke) or a footballing decision (Hull City).

I don’t think it’s so black and white as that.

The plan was never to go to Stoke and play in their U23s. It’ll have been to eventually, in the 5 years contracted, to break into the first team like he was on the verge of doing here with Robertson’s impending departure.

Things change. A loan to MK Dons. A relegation for Stoke to the Championship. A change in manager, etc.

That’s football. It’s not the least bit predictable no matter what you plan.

I do fully get your view but surely you choose the path with the least risk?

When it involves your future wealth and your families surely you take the path that guarantees your future rather than risk it on a big break in the future?

There will have been less risk (in the first five years at least) going but there’s the aspect of living away from home at a young age without your family in a new town and settling. Doesn’t always happen.

I’ll go further and say Keane will hit double figures for the season. There’s a player in there somewhere, as he proved at Leeds the other day.

I’m pleased that your business operates with morals – it’s what this country/planet needs.

Of course, I understand your logic – it’s obvious. But, my point centred around the fact that loving/supporting a team isn’t logical nor is it always obvious and that, alongside a reasonable offer from City (which may more than ‘provide’), could have been enough for a 19 year old who (I’m assuming) doesn’t have the pressures of providing for a family yet.

Career wise, it looks like the wrong move and to refer back the point that John made earlier, it may ultimately not even be the best financial move in the long term.

I wonder if city 1904 went to university or took the quick money and got a job? Could get run over crossing the road going to uni or trip over your scarf and fall under a bus.

So we’ve let Keane go in order to free up funds and or wages for another player, hope that’s not hollow promises from Enob.

Wonder who we’ve got lined up if true, Mason Greenwood on loan from United please

Just missing the ‘reasonable’ offer bit. Trying to extend the scholarship terms wasn’t reasonable.

I do think he was badly advised but the club didn’t help in trying to keep him.

I only know what is in the public domain, but a range of sources indicated he was made some sort of pro-contract offer, with a wide range of values in what that contract was actually worth.

If it was just extending the scholarship terms alone, then I'd agree with you. But without concrete proof, I'm led to believe he was offered something that befitted his worth and status.

His initial offer which you’re talking about was withdrawn. I don’t know why. I think it was around the time Liverpool and Manchester United we’re having a sniff. I’d guess (just my opinion) Josh was advised to not sign anything yet to see where that interest goes, this annoyed the club (or Ehab) and they withdrew their offer.

The second, lesser offer near the end of the season was rejected by the player/agent. There was interest from Stoke and Villa (Watford were rumoured in the press but that was just a case of Silva heading there and Liverpool rumoured but that was just based on them having a look earlier in the season).

The scholarship extension wasn’t successful and he left to Stoke.

I never went to University, I studied to become a Chartered Financial Advisor instead. No degree would allow me to do that so University was completely redundant for me. Numerous years studying, and now run my own firm and just starting another new firm all before the age of 30 so I wouldn't say I am doing badly without any student debt.

Given this background I don't believe in risk, as you try everything you can to minimise risk but you can take managed risks. Personally throwing away thousands of pounds by staying at Hull City is not a managed risk in my eyes.

Your comparison is completely ludicrous given footballers get injured everyday, and footballers fall away and never make the grade annually. I would be surprised if many couldn't complete their degrees due to falling over scarves, but feel free to prove me wrong with facts.

“The first time I heard [about] him was yesterday or before yesterday,” said Pochettino.

Bowen's not off to Spurs then. <laugh>
