I’m off to Nottingham races tomorrow for the annual pub trip which is normally more about the beer than the racing. However if anyone has any info, fancies or just general insight it would be gratefully received.
Evening, all. I won't inflame Barney's simmering paranoia by saying that I've been told this, so let's just say that my enthusiasm hasn't been discouraged by people close to the stable. My interest in NH racing is on the southern side of nil, but I've been struck by the presence of ADJOURNED in the bumper at Southwell (4.50). This thing was entered in a 3yo-only bumper at Huntingdon last Thursday, and taken out overnight, apparently because the world knew how useful the Elsworth winner (Aggressive) was. Today's race is a 3-5yo event, with what look to be some very slow four year olds in it. and Adjourned - by Rip van Winkle out of a Dalakhani mare - should have too much foot for most of them. My optimism is increased by the weight factor set out below*, and I think that if you can find 3-1 or better as they go to post, you should have a bet. * I've never understood this; the early-October weight for age allowance between 3yo and 4yo in two-mile NHF races is a stonking 17 lb. The same allowance in two-mile flat races is 9 lb. On good ground (as forecast at Southwell tomorrow) with a top-class flat-bred horse, I really can't see any difference between this race and (say) a two-mile all-age maiden at Doncaster. I'm sure the BHA handicappers will have an explanation, but as far as I'm concerned, at least 7 lb of Adjourned's allowance tomorrow is pure bonus. Owner John Dance is coming off a fine weekend with Laurens, Brian Hughes should have no problem with the weight, and all the signs seem favourable.
Team FoB first bumper runner of this season , Mrs Hyde , at ludlow , has shown ability previously, now it's time to see what Fergal and co can do with her , stable had a winner yesterday , this there only runner today at this sharp track . at 9/2 worth a punt !!
Oh go on, you should! I’m keen to deploy the forum’s new catch phrase. Could be the Not 606 answer to ‘Nice to see you to see you…NICE!’
One of my favourite horses of recent years was Time Test and his half-brother debuts in the 3.00. Will be very interested to see how Tempus fares in the mile maiden event and hope he proves as good as his older sibling. Won’t be backing him though as Tempus appears very short in the market.
Tuna and sweetcorn baguette, a packet of hula hoops and a banana. 5/10. I see that old boy Sylvester De Sousa has been sacked / dismissed / replaced / jocked ‘orf (delete as appropriate) by connections of Pretty Pollyanna, what a lovely name for a filly by the way. Daniel Tudhope will now be aboard for Friday’s ‘Fillies Mile’. One that he will ride though is Neil ‘Mullers’ Mulholland’s Vis A Vis in Saturday’s ‘Ces’. The pilot will be going for an amazing 4th win in the race since 2013! It looks though as if some trainer I’ve never heard of may have a stranglehold on this year’s renewal of the great race.
Coronation chicken sandwich on granary bread, pack of kettles crisps..Apple and banana. . Traditional lunch..not this ratatouille nonsense..for lunch as well ? Why would you?
You are right of course, I should have steered clear of the ratatouille. Always makes me think of that scene from Fawlty Towers with Manuel's pet rat called Basil: "He put basil in ratatouille?"
hi fellas! ludlow,3 10: i think,ROMAN FLIGHT deserves a mention here.although his last win is about two years ago,and hes not in much form at present, there are some reasons for hope: 1) is reunited with noel fehily, who has already won three times on him. 2)his mark is in free fall since his last win(even if he couldnt capitalise on it so far..) 3)has contested tougher races than this recently. so,if hes in the right mood today, probably wont be far away..e w player..
ludlow,3 40: not really much between the two main contenders, but my suspicion is,that SUPER SCORPION is just the better horse, even if only just.there will be other days for lord condi, but today, debra hamers charge gets a narrow vote today..
ludlow,4 10: well, patience is slowly wearing thin on GUSTAVE MAHLER,but to be fair,he had some tough tasks recently, and this looks a bit easier today.so, i give him the benefit of the doubt here..
