When I go camping I usually sleep in a hammock instead of setting a tent up. Cooler than a tent (doesn't trap the heat in like a tent) and you can set it up anywhere you can find two trees about 10ft apart.

They're not the most comfortable of beds but better than a camping mattress. Roll up much smaller than a tent too.

yeah but you are well hard.

look if it wasn't miserable like over here I might agree.

a) hammock plus fly net plus canvas over top is grand in warm.climate.

b) its.miserable here.so tents are the way we go. it's not 35 degrees like where you are..its 4 degrees.

My hammocks all have built in fly nets ... I've already had West Nile virus once... Don't know if I can get it again but don't want to try. <laugh>

I have a rain sheet but never used it. Prefet to sleep seeing the stars. Surprising as many times as I've been it's never rained on me in a hammock. I do try to avoid camping in rain... But still surprised no surprise rainstorms yet.

I would use a tent in winter or if rain forecast but too hot rest of year.

I've also got a bivvy I bought for kayak camping but never used it yet .

I actually did get into the hammock once, as my daughter demanded I did. If you know the right way to do it, it's very easy. I just don't think they're very comfy. No issues getting out either, sadly for you <laugh>
Sit down in the hammock and swing your legs in, don't put your feet in first.....recipe for disaster

Just get a big lightweight tarp to set up over the hammock and one for the ground under and around the hammock, still way lighter and quicker to sort out than a tent, plus you can angle it however to deflect any rain
