This has got to be one of the most laughable things the Record has ever published: We dish out the marks following on from our columnist’s (Chris Sutton) assessment of the club’s signing policy. We've taken that on and dished out a rating for every signing the Celtic boss has made since taking over in May 2016. Jack Hendry The former Dundee stopper has a lot of the qualities that Rodgers covets. He's quick and loves to build from the back rather than hoofing it downfield. A tough debut against Kilmarnock showed he has ways to go but there is optimism that Hendry can become a Celtic regular. But European class? Too early to say. 3 Scott Bain The Dundee keeper was on loan at Hibs after getting the Celtic call and he must feel he should replace de Vries in absence of Gordon. He could get his chance in the upcoming games. 2 Marvin Compper The forgotten man at Celtic. The veteran German defender was signed from RB Leipzig in January but he hasn't featured due to a calf complaint. To add insult to injury, Compper wasn't eligible for the Europa League anyway, at a time when the backline needed solidified. Sutton called it an "odd" signing. 2 Lewis Morgan The winger was lavished with praise by Rodgers after Celtic's victory over St Mirren in the Scottish Cup last season. The Hoops boss followed up his kind words by signing the Scotland U21 international in January, before being loaned straight back to the Buddies. He has all the skills but talents such as Ryan Christie have failed to make inroads with the Premiership champions. A man to take Celtic to the next level? Again, the jury’s out. 2 Charly Musonda Musonda was signed to much fanfare and his 18-month loan from Chelsea follows on from a similar deal involving Roberts. A magic assist for Callum McGregor aside, Musonda has yet to really come alive with Celtic. Sutton reckons it's worrying that he already appears to be the third choice for the No.10 role. One concern is how slight he is. At times he looks like a youth player getting game time at the end of a season. He is supremely talented but has some way to go. 5 "Dished out" indeed, ratings of players who have either not actually played for us yet, or who have had less than a handful of games to settle in.
re comper, everyone saying it was an odd signing. I don't get it. He was not bought to compete in the europa league. he was bought to get game time and to hit the ground running for the champ league qualifiers next season. slagging off Morgan is ****ing ridiculous. imagine we had bought / loaned players that cannot get a game in the championship in england
heard on one of the podcasts this week that Celtic expect the following to go in the summer De Vries, Rogic, Dembele, Boyata, Simunovic, Armstrong, Roberts, Musonda In addition to the above I would gladly stick Compper, Bitton and Gamboa into that group Obviously I would hope that Dembele and Rogic stayed. Also would love roberts to stay too.
Our signings, this summer, are going to have to be of a higher quality, just to get in the team! What a problem to have. Seriously, is this the strongest midfield we have ever had?
Aye, aye - what a surprise ... http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport...team-mate_Steven_Gerrard_at_Rangers/?ref=ebls "STEVEN GERRARD is not pursuing a move to bring former Liverpool team-mate Martin Skrtel to Ibrox. It is understood that the defender is not on the list of potential recruits that Rangers are targeting this summer as boss Gerrard looks to overhaul his squad ahead of the Europa League qualifiers and new Premiership campaign."
Amazing, absolutely shocked about this, like most of the SMSM I thought for certain his £90k a week wages and £4m transfer fee would be no barrier to him joining The Rangers.
" ... Csonto said: “Steven tried to make it happen but he had no idea about the financial situation of the player. He is trying to get the best players possible and that’s why he spoke to Martin about this but unfortunately it’s going to be impossible ... " No idea? If Gerrard thought they could afford Skrtel, he serously hasn't a clue what he's let himself in for. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport...er_Image_Story3&utm_campaign=daily_newsletter
He was an amazing prospect and if this works out, we could get an absolute gem ... https://celtsarehere.com/brendan-rodgers-confirms-talks-with-exceptional-talent/
I thought young Benyu looked a very promising prospect when he first came in but seems he's not settling ... https://celtsarehere.com/another-celtic-midfielder-set-for-summer-parkhead-exit/

Aiden McGeady admits Celtic return hopes Nah. Decent player in his day but at 32 he doesn't fit the criteria of "buy young-develop-sell on*" Compper being the obvious exception and what an exception he's turned out to be!
