It started mid last season after Coutinho left. What I have noticed, is we do not have a fixed holding midfielders nowadays. They all keep rotating depending on where the other 2 midfielders are. These tweaks have compensated for the lack of pure technique in Hendo and Milner and we can then utilize their great engines. It is the reason I believe Fabinho is yet to break through as he is more of a specialized DM with a fixed position.

What Milner has also improved in most, is his positional play as well as smart fouling in the oppositions half preventing quick breaks. He does this and avoids yellow cards too.

I'm glad people are finally giving wijnaldum the praise I gave him at the season start. In the no 6 role he has been absolutely outstanding.

 

He scored his first away goal wearing number 6. Therefore his lucky number is 6.

 

always said he was twice as good as Lene Lovich in the holding MF role.

 

He usually get smart tackles without conceding fouls too.

 

yeah Lene never liked doing the "dirty" work .

I did spot it Dribs. I posted that picture of our real no.6. I wasn't as quick as saint though
