My daughter and her mates drinks in ‘Spoons’ as they call it sometimes, because it’s cheap, they have no taste and match the demographic. I’ve only been in once, because it was nearly closing time and we didn’t think we could get to a better bar quick enough. I drank my pint very rapidly indeed. It has competition from a few other crappy ‘meal and a drink for a fiver’ places, but thankfully we also have plenty of good pubs and a few absolute belters.

Well now they have some I'm inclined to believe them Brexit - government says it will be disaster - I'm still awaiting substantial evidence for this. So forgive me if I'm consistent in how I take the word of my government rather than just view things in my Ellers lens of life.
I am happy to put my hand up. I didn't think we had any proof it was the Russians. There is nothing magical about making the toxin stuff, and I am sure Porton Down have made some...it is sensible to make it, investigate it, test remedies etc. I have to say upto Putins intervention of "It wasn't us gov, you got the wrong geyser" I was not convinced that we had any real proof. But the performance of the two suspects.."Our friends told us to go to Salisbury. It is world famous it has a church and the oldest clock", was pathetic. Especially after the Russians had put doubt in the minds of the people at the UN, with the observation of exactly the same timing on the entry gate at Gatwick for the two suspects, a very unlikely possibility. Why they tried the trick of ...we are "tourists", which was very quickly countered by the CCTV footage of the suspects walking through Salisbury towards the Skipals house and essentially away from the Cathedral....An amateur attempt from the Russians. I admit I am changing my mind....but still find it hard to believe that the Russians heirachy are quite that inept, but it is beginning to look that they might be. I am still worried about these photo though. We are told the Novichok was on the front door knob. The first picture shows the door being guarded by police without protective clothing or gloves. The second, the policeman is right against the door (he is wearing proper police man fluffy gloves though). Maybe you should have looked at it through 'my lens of life' as you would have worked out it was the Russians. Anyone with half a brain cell could have worked it out, it was not rocket science., or was it? Now you are still trying to defend it in your own warped way. As for Iraq plenty on here know my views on Blair and at the time I said it was a fix. So don't go down that road.

Ellers I believe I have half a brain cell...and there were a lot , a huge amount of inconsistencies in the "official" account the poisoning. That may be accounted for by security reasons, we do not know/should not know all the details DURING an investigation. There are problems with the story. The doorknob at the house. The timing problems at Gatwick The tragic death of Dawn Sturgiss, who picked up an unopened bottle of Nicci Ricci perfume from a charity bin months later and had to assemble it. It has a seperate applicator. Sprayed it on herself and died. It will all come out in time I am sure....but scepticism is a good thing. So is learning to think for yourself, with your own half a brain cell and not believing everything you are told

The poison was from Russia confirmed by PD That grade of poison could have only come from Russian and not some rebel state They have a history of Poisoning people The Russian government is corrupt and has murdered many of its own people. Putin stated death to all traitors. Their charade of a spokesman at the time also told me it was them NEVER would it have come from the UK. This latest thing is not laughable but as someone quoted "it's chilling".

That's fine but you have changed your mind after reading the latest information. Who is to say that is correct? We are guided by what we read and believe.
I am changing my mind yes ...but I am changing my mind based on evidence...not being told, or accepting what the media tell me. I was really perturbed, that the media told us who it was immediately. I do not think we did have any evidence until the last few weeks. I have watched the Russian video and it is not hugely creditable. I have seen the the timings of their visits to Salisbury...having just been a tourist seeing the sights in south of France, I know that is not the way tourists seeing a sight of interest acts. I am hugely suspicious of their interview. All I am saying is...our side of the story is not waterproof either and I would (eventually) like to know why. I am just asking for analytical thinking not simple agreement to what we are told by a newspaper or even the BBC
I'm satisfied it was a Russian operation - based on the fact that revenge is a reliable motive and they clearly had the opportunity and the means. We may never see all the evidence come into the public domain - even if it came to trial (which it won't). I'm sure it's been shared with our intelligence partners, though - which is why they support our point of view. Did Putin know beforehand? Who knows? He does now. Will those two vanish from public life now? Almost certainly. Maybe from life itself, as a reward for a botched job that has put this into the public eye. On the basis that several people almost died and have life-changing outcomes, plus one person did die, I won't cry too much.
The lucky among us will be drinking it with a clove in at the Chestnut Tree Cafe, safe in the knowledge that we will soon be free.

I don't think we'll ever know the full story Beth and I've always said that a few things don't quite add up. There could be a few reasons why the security services are withholding some facts, ranging from national security to their ingrained propensity for secrecy. As for the Russians, they know that interview looks ridiculous, but that's the point. They are ridiculing us and pushing us. They also want other, as they see them, traitors to be in no doubt that they will be punished. Russia knew they would be implicated and wanted it to be so. It's the old School Russia way to deal with foreign policy.
I thought the timings at Gatwick were explained by the fact that there are two channels, both filmed at the same time by separate cctv cameras?
