https://www.football365.com/news/what-is-the-point-in-southampton-football-club-anymore So who have we upset from there?
I’m sorry but anyone who has the name “Steven Chicken” I just can’t take seriously. He sounds a right BBQ melt!!
He's obviously been keeping abreast of the situation at St Marys, there were quite a few nuggets of truth in his roast
Maybe he feels cooped up and someone is egging him on. This Steven guy has been around for a while and is no spring chicken
except for the uncomfortable fact that he's probably right and supporting Saints keeps us off the streets and gives us something better to do than burning down the House of Parliament
To be honest I think the article makes a fairly reasonable point - it’s a question I’ve been asking myself recently. We have a bloated squad of overpaid, average players that we can’t get rid of, our last three managerial appointments have ranged from uninspiring to awful, our transfer business has been pretty poor for years (it’s a bit early to judge this summer’s signings but before that I’m not sure when we last made a signing that was an unqualified success) and we have no clear idea what the owner wants for the club.
I've not read the article because the site is asking me to pay them to not have ads...but I could ask, what is the point of Newcastle, Leeds, Forest, Derby, Sunderland, Aston Villa, WBA, Ipswich? etc etc. The truth is that we have no given right to be better than all of these traditionally more successful clubs.
All this talk about chicken. Did you know that the area between the front and back doors at Nando’s is known as the peri perineum?
You'll have to comb through this thread to find anything interesting. I have and could find nothing to crow about.
I won't tolerate any hen pecking of our club. He's just winging it, and most of it has been plucked from nowhere. There is far more important news to keep abreast of. Strike!
I agree with him although I can understand why his tone might cause people to be annoyed. When we got taken over like he said we had a direction. We had an intent. We knew "who we were" (as in those deciding what we were going to do) and we achieved it way ahead of schedule. When we got to the Prem we still followed that mission. People loved us. We had a mission, not ashamed of it, not ashamed to state we were ambitious. We over achieved for a long time. Seems so long ago now though. The Cortese/Poch/players leaving season broke that. This is what he is referring to. We were to be feared in that period because we shamelessly stated we were going places. Koeman era steadied the ship but like I said. Poch/Cortese/players leaving was the period that the rot started to set in despite us achieveing better for 2 more seasons and it was also the moment the romance went and people started to lose that "2nd club" interest/soft spot for us.
