Surely it can't be Cattermole or Norwood? They aren't similar in the slightest. I really hope we get Norwood his set pieces are excellent and the World Cup showed how important they can't be if you have a player who can put great deliveries in.

I’d take cattermole. Won’t hide away when games aren’t going our way. The type of scrapper we lacked last season.

I have thought Cattermole is the type of player we have missed since Ash left as i think they are both similar even down to the red cards. Ash managed to get his red card under control a little bit, but his aggression was vital in our promotions.
Didn’t Ash have the first encounter with dickhead Pardew, when he chased him round the pitch?
Maybe the team no longer needs a player like that any more, i guess if Adkins things we need him then he must seee a need for a player like that. Maybe we would just have to get used to losing him for a few games a season.

The sort of player his clubs fans love for his gritty, no nonsense physical game.
Everyone hates him because he's a dirty **** who'll collect a lot of cards.

I felt at times last season that we got a little bullied and didn't have a battler. Larrson was a good tackler but not aggressive off the ball, in that he didn't stir a team up. Henriksen found his aggression and now looks great going into it but still lacks the fear factor some midfielders have.
With Cattermole you have that presence on the pitch and the other team know they are in for a battle.
That said I would prefer Norwood over him, better all round player

Totally agree, in a team of kids, we need a mid field enforcer to stop us getting bullied
I hadn't realised Cattermole is only 30. He's the same age as Evandro. Thought he was a few years older.
Cattermole is nowhere near the player Ashbee was.
Castro, Stewie & others will be out from behind their sofas when it does. ****ting themselves at the very mention of the word.

Reading some Sunderlands forums he's certainly divided opinion, many want him gone also others refer to him as being a bad influence off the field, i don't know what t make of it, massive risk, his discipline record we all know about,plus he has suffered with injuries over the last few seasons, and he's wages is another problem,still one of Sunderlands high earners, and after this summer when Ehab couldn't get our high earners out of the door fast enough, why go out and spend money on a high risk player, plus Adkins is on record as saying he wants "young and hungry" players, unless Darnbrough been offered him on the cheap and Adkins has been told "Nigel you'll get what your given".

Cattermole is not a player I like, but in our state at the moment wouldn't be a bad addition. Maybe with time he has matured and is less of a dick head than he used to be.
