So tell me, does it mean they determine who wins ? What about Kane getting hauled down twice ? Its flawed to me.
The current system is a complete failure abd bit sure how they can improve it. Never been a fan and doubt I ever will
I suppose the one thing you'd say in its favour is that it's still in its teething stage, the refs using it have gone their whole careers without it and now they've got to get used to something new. I think there's hope for it yet. But yeah it's pointless if it's going to be used wrongly or not at all when it blatantly should be. Other problems like not being able to celebrate a goal without the approval of the almighty VAR **** with the natural flow of games too.
It's not VAR, it's the people in charge of using it. Refs discretion, they've decided that if a player goes through on goal and goes down they'll consult it. But if they're heaved down during the corners or crosses they're not interested and it's wrong. This is human error not the technology, it's there to be used and the refs aren't using it when they should. It proved with Sweden today it works. They just need the Refs to use it correctly, and there's the real problem, the operators, not the tech which is what i've been saying the whole time. Better off not letting the on field refs decide anything with VAR, take that off them completely and give teams two or three appeals to use in a game.
They're still figuring it out. Just need time. It's going to happen. In this day and age the technology needs to be used.
Should have had a penalty for Kane and Tunisia no penalty, the world cup curse strikes again through bad refs.
I'm a traditionalist.....Nothing wrong with football before this VAR farce. Human error is part and parcel of the game. its what makes the game what it is. I hate the thought football is becoming clinical. With 4 or 5 people pouring over TV screens, the referee on the field has the chance to review and they still cock it up. Just leave the game alone. Its not broken, don't try and fix it.
Trouble is people were screaming that it was broken and needed fixing. I'd side with you personally but I think it's come to far in the other direction. It won't go back.
Whose these people back in Moscow checking the VAR anyway? I can imagine guns firmly pressed against heads from Mafia types who have large sums of money on these games.
How far do these people watch the videos for. I've noticed a couple of times already on closer inspection through different angles and slower motion that decisions would have been different. Do these VAR inspectors have a time limit and are only able to watch a limited number of replays?
Football is a human game, played by humans and officiated by humans. VAR and other technology is designed to eliminate human error in officiating. The next logical step then is to eliminate human error in actually playing the game, so let's design some technology to prevent players feeling the pressure of a big game, to prevent lapses in concentration, to prevent mis-kicks. That would be fun wouldn't it? What makes sport interesting is that it's about human ability and testing human ability. That includes the abilities of the referee and his linesman.
I don’t like var But have accepted it It’s now working as I feared It’s still the same as before you win some you loose some It’s all down to the referee
i agree with most of the comments made about VAR, and if the match officials are reluctant to use it. which it would appear then maybe we should give the team managers the opportunity to request it is used, give them a set number of times they can consult VAR and if they are correct they still retain the same number of referals as it is in tennis or cricket. Then again it still comes down to the panel who will adjudicate, and the problem is most of them couldnt agree about the colour of ****e.
Maybe penalties given by the ref can be reversed through VAR but penalties not given should not be, and so forth?
It exists, its called CBD and the Athletic industry is turning to it and its picking up pace, not only does it help with pre event stress and lapses in concentration, it's helping athletes recover quicker.
CBD is a chemical and is used as a supplement, in some cases in place of ibuprofen. What I was getting at was the use of electronic technology to aid performance, i.e. players quite literally becoming robots, not medical developments. The removal of the human element will devalue the game and that is the ultimate extension of the use of technology in the game.
