I kill giants

This is, to me is an American remake of A monster calls. It has virtually the same plot. Only the excellent animation from AMC is missing. This however doesn't take away from the film at all. It's an excellent tale much the same as the British film.

Madison Wolfe in the lead does a great job carrying the story along. This really is a fine wee movie. If you liked the likes of Pan's Labyrinth then you will like this and A monster calls.

All the money in the world.

Ridley Scott's take on the kidnapping of John Paul Getty lll and it's a really good effort. Christopher Plummer steals the show as the original Getty who is as tight as ducks arse and Michelle Williams is great as the mother intent on saving her son and the only decent human being in the whole piece. You can't even see the seams where Scott cut out his original Getty to fit in old Chrissy boy.

P.S. there is currently a TV series which tells the same story called Trust and stars Donald Sutherland. This is also really good.

Film based on real events. After 9/11 the first American boots on the ground in Afghanistan were unit of US special forces. The 12 men teamed up with an Afghan "General" and his men, took to horses and gave the Taliban and Al-Qaeda a bloody nose driving them virtually out of the country.

Pretty decent fare with a curious cast. The battle scenes are well done although possibly a tad ott. But hey if they say that's what happened then who are we to think otherwise.

Infinity war

A blast from start to finish in the film that brings the whole MCU together. Everything is in it you expect from Marvel. Action sequences galore, bags of humour, CGI that is unbelievable at times and plenty of surprises.

A must watch but watch Ragnarok and Black Panther before you do.

Tremendous stuff. 9/10

Did you know who Fury paged?

A Quiet Place - 9/10 excellent if a little far--fetched in the birth scene... but seeing the who premise is far-fetched who gives a fck.

Solo: Yet Another Star Wars Story - 6/10 bubble gum pop for the masses. Entertaining, you'll sit through it happily from one swashbuckiling action sequence to the next, but was it really needed? No. The only bit of nostalgia it offers is A) Han meeting Chewy, and B) Han piloting the Millenium Falcon for the first time and qualifying the line "I made the Kelsar Run in 12 parseks" or whatever the fck it was. Nowhere near as good as Rogue One which I think is the best SW film since Empire Strikes Back. Having said that, I fcking hope they stop making these spin-offs now!

Watched a spook last nite called The Quiet Ones.. Wish I had not wasted my time. The plot was bewildering and convoluted while I had trouble sympathizing with the characters..a university parapsychologist and three of his students conducting an experiment on a young girl. And just who were "the quiet ones"? Sorry.. this is a sad effort from those that gave us the truly terrifying Woman In Black. I will not waste any more finger exercise on this. 3/10.

THE EDGE is a top shelf pyscho thriller adventure. Orchestrating the show are two fine actors in Anthony Hopkins and Alex Baldwin. I love the tension between the two after they become marooned in the wilderness when their planes crashes. It then becomes obvious that Baldwin is having an affair with Hopkins wife ( the delectable, Aussie eye candy Elle McPherson) and has planned to kill him while on a photographic assignment.. Things, however, do not go to plan as they have to rely on each other for their survival.. specially against a rogue bear that wants both for dinner. There is an even mix of suspense, adventure, tension and magnificent sceney, not to mention a great rapport between the two leads.. that makes me give this a much deserved

Mission impossible : Fallout

See if you ignore the massive plot holes, the dodgy acting and that bloody annoying "This message will sell destruct" rubbish then you will have a blast watching this. Treat it what it is, one incredible set up after another. You will be hard pushed to see a better car chase than the one through Paris they did for this. Actually breathtaking action sequence. The finale is equally impressive . All in all a very good effort and probably the best Mi movie so far.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado

Disappointing sequel to the first movie. Benicio and Brolin are great but the script and plot let it down. Still worth a watch though.

Solo: a star wars story.

Pretty good effort from the SW universe. Han Solo origin story that ticks all the Solo boxes. Pure popcorn but good all the same.

Mandy

Pure acid trip of a film starring Nicholas Cage. His best effort In quite some time. Destined to be a cult classic.
