I'm like it too and I'm finding that the older I get, the more panicky I get. You won't be seeing me in the back row of the new south stand.

IMHO it also comes from decreasing exposure to heights.
I grew up on an estate with tower/maisonette blocks,
and with an industrial estate/wasteland nearby.

So I was used to climbing inside/outside/on things
quite high up (jeez some of the stupid things I did
as a kid :( :) ) . 30 odd years on, and my bottle goes
just being quite high up and looking over the edge.

A relative of mine who is a couple of years older and
grew up in the same manor has no such issues.

Why ?? He has been working in scaffolding for
that amount of time (so he gives no real thought to
the height he is working at) .

As Spurs announce the first NFL game in our new stadium for later this year, the Chelsea News Letter [Evening Standard] have gone off in a huff and reported that our stadium [which is real and not a very expensive drawing that won't get built, like theirs] is costing £1 billion.

Boys, boys, boys. The Mail ran that one. They're still publishing love letters to Spurs and Levy as a result. I hope you've got those knee pads ready for all that grovelling.

Also, I spied a headline "Spurs Stadium Alarm". I braced myself for the usual bollocks, just to find that it is a story about alarms.....Fire......Intruder.......Alarms......in Professional Security Magazine You can get too used to the usual nonsense pedalled by the media.

I bloody hate heights. I get shaky painting the eves of a normal 2 story building. Despite this, I always try and 'do the tourist high places'. I went up the Empire State Building. I came straight back down again as it was a windy night and there was a 5" sway and that I couldn't deal with. I hugged the walls of The Gherkin when I went to the top floor restaurant and got as far away from the windows as possible.

I went to the Bernebeu this season and was at the back of the penultimate tier. I've gotta say that was pretty touch and go for a few seconds. It's the combination of height and steepness and it got my pulse racing and every so often I wanted the hell out of there.......

Apparently, the South Stand at its upper points is less steep than the other stands at NWHL, so it should be okay........but I reserve the right to bottle it completely and have to be escorted away by my daughter just like my Empire State disgrace.

Well that is a hard deadline for new WHL opening
(the commercial damage to not be ready for then
would be irreparable) .

Funnily enough the Wail hasn't posted an article on this yet.

Probably too busy frothing at the mouth that Virgin Rail have decided that they won't be selling their rag on their trains, which has made them so angry they conveniently forgot to mention they also don't sell The Guardian...

Just seen Daniel Levy and Sadiq Khan on sky news at the new stadium. Levy was asked about new signings and the answer was 'if Poch identifies a player that will improve the side we will look at it, however, the January window is always difficult'. Khan has just gone up about 10,000 percent in my estimation. He talked about the regeneration of the area, one of the finest stadiums in the country and...wait for it...'hopefully one of the finest teams in the world'. Good man, is he a Spurs fan?

He was born in Tooting, so naturally he supports... Liverpool. <doh>
To be fair to him, his story of why makes it far more understandable:

Racially abused by Chelsea fans? Now there's a shock.

I have a question which has been rattling around my head for a few days.
Does anyone know if they are still working 24/7 on the stadium. I have been looking on and off at the live cams but can't see anything actually happening.
Being so far away I can't jump in my car and go and have a quick look!

A lot of the work is now physically inside
the stadium, so unless they put webcams
in there or you are watching just as something
outside is happening, you will not see much.

The most recent times I have done a circuit
around the site, all I usually is gate staff
and workers walking to and fro.

maybe they should start to put cameras inside if there's more going on

There was a lot of work done Wednesday night - on the South Stand, Roofing in the NW Corner and East Stand roofing preparations. Plus it looks like all the roof struts are now in place around the stadium, just waiting for the South Stand to go to full height so that the compression ring can be finished.

Last night they put up the final raker on the South Stand and attached the dampeners and installed more of the curved roof trim but it looks like a lot less external activity tonight. Could be a hive of activity internally and you can't see the North or East Sides externally worth a damn as to what's going on there.

You cannot see much from the outside because of the scaffolding.
Now with the glass facades going up, you see even less.

I have discussed with others why the facades have gone up so
early, given that may increase the chance of their damage while
heavy building work is still in progress. One suggestion is that
they may act as sound insulators, so all the racket that could
come 24/7 from the internal work falls within that allowed by
residential neighbourhood environmental limits.

It didn't take long for the The Evening Standard to 'adopt the position'. Today sees a very nice article stating how we're keeping all of our star names, everything's on time..........and the cost of the stadium?

"Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has reassured supporters that the club will move into their new stadium on time and with all their star players.

The first confirmed fixture at Spurs’ yet-to-be-named 61,559-seat new home was announced in Tottenham on Thursday — the NFL match between Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks on October 14 — and afterwards Levy said the £800million stadium would be ready for the start of the 2018-19 Premier League season."

Oh what a surprise. It's fallen from the 'Chelsea friendly' sum of £1 billion back to the correct sum of £800m. Going by the deal Daniel Levy extracted from The Mail after the same 'error', The Standard are going to be printing some unpalatable, positive articles about Spurs and the stadium in the weeks ahead.

Silly, boys, very silly.
