The more you think about it the more you realise that unless new players are coming the whole thing does not make sense. Here we have a team playing well, with Coutinho at the centre of it. And the Fab 4 scoring freely and contributing to big wins. Why would Klopp then agree to let his big star (or at least one of them) go without anybody to replace him? surely he cannot think that the team wont be weakened by his absence? He wouldn't put the whole season (CL, FA cup, top4 etc) at risk would he? IMO new players are definitely coming in this window. Waiting until the summer simply does not make sense unless Klopp thinks the team will play better WITHOUT Coutinho which is a massive gamble. What's the point of getting new expensive players for next season if we are out of the CL?
Might not be Klopp decision if we buy or not. I don't understand why we sold first if we are getting anyone in.
Hope this isn't true, if it is it shows just how weak our people were during negotiations, LFC had the upper hand but came out of it looking like wimps with regards of the player not remaining with us until the summer, should have made that the first point before agreeing to sell him. "While negotiating the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, Liverpool asked if the Brazilian could be loaned back to Anfield for the rest of the season due to their difficulties in finding a replacement for him, but Barca rejected the proposal. (AS)"
I have no issue with him wanting to go to Barca, but I think he owed it to us (and by that I mean the fans, not the owners or management structure) to stay to the end of the season and do his best to make it as successful as it could be. It's only another four months after all. I can't see how that makes a huge difference to either him or Barca, but it might do to us. If he really cared about us the way he's making out now, he would have done this. Instead he acted like a kid who gets a Christmas present a few days early but can't wait to open it. Perhaps no surprise, but still a let-down. Despite saying he wanted to do things the respectful way he pulled every ****'s trick in the book to get his way in the summer. I imagine we were facing that all over again. which is why Klopp gave the green light to the move. Better for him to have a unified group of players without the craft of Coutinho, than have a disruptive influence which I do believe was responsible - at least in part- for our mediocre start to the season. So, thanks for all you did, Phil - but that little bit extra would have made all the difference. 6/10 from me.
IMO Coutinho prob downed tools and said no now enough is enough i want to go and won't play again Thats the only situation where we had to sell to avoid a bigger problem For me circumstance have changed for us but equally you cannot believe a word out of either camp as barca and us are very much in love with making ****e up and lying to make themsleves look better IMO with salah scoring for fun. vvd in and lallana returned form injury we prob looked at it and said **** it if you throw that big a strop you might as well go as we've maxed the deal out.
I am not looking forward to Salah's turn to be involved in these types of shenanigans. Zidane saying how much he's always loved him as a player and the Spanish press then going to town on how negotiations have already started etc etc. All these awards he is getting can only increase the sharks' appetite. And Salah saying how he's always wanted to play for Madrid since he was 8-10 years old.
thats fine but the price is 300mil now. come the summer there will be even more ridiculous transfers so if he gets 35-40 goals for us total he can say what he likes he's contracted
Hard to see how we can avoid it, isn't it? We're no longer considered European elite so we're just not as attractive as the big glamour clubs. It would take a sustained period of success to fight back to that level, but every time we get a quality individual the vultures will start circling. We do the same thing to clubs lower down the food chain. The only chance is that we get top-class individuals who actually prefer it here, or we manage to start winning things with a team that has no stand-out stars. Both scenarios seem a bit far-fetched. Good as he is, I've said all along that Coutinho isn't that good to be coveted so highly, so God knows what's going to happen the way Salah is playing. The rumours already abound and we've only had him 6 months. Oh well.
Look cheslea have hung onto hazard for how long now? TBH LFC need to just do 3 things. 1. Be in CL consistently 2. Pay the going rate 200-300k 3. secure them on long deals without release clauses if players have any sort of likelyhood to have interest from these clubs. while we did this with coutinho, mane is not secured very well now and yet lovren and mingolet are If you pay them well and are in CL attitudes change. How the **** hazard is still at cheslea i do not know tbh. i think that stinking year with chelsea in 10th really harmed his rep.
FSG can make a stand but it is also about how much the player himself is willing to push it to get his own way. Coutinho apparently was prepared to cause disruption and refusing to play because of "injuries" if he wasn't let go. Despite all the nice words being said by Klopp on his sale. Even if FSG turn down an offer of £160m+ for Salah, will he threaten disruption to then wreck the whole season? and lose a huge fortune doing so. The ball is always in the player's court in these situations.
Barcelona confirm Philippe Coutinho is INJURED just days after £142m Liverpool transfer BARCELONA have confirmed Philippe Coutinho is injured and will be sidelined for at least 20 days.
I think Salah is a quiet, humble sort of guy so maybe he won't. But then I used to think that of Coutinho.
I've never been a fan, don't get me wrong at times he's brilliant but he is useless at times as well. I watched the recent game vs The Gooners and he was poor despite the pundits saying otherwise. He was too deep and was not affecting the game at all, he pushed up once they were a goal down and got the pen but that was it really. I've watched other games usually big games and he doesn't often impress.
Liverpool transfer update: Auction on for Danny Ings as Kop star made available for move FOUR Premier League clubs are chasing Liverpool striker Danny Ings
It is usually the agents who stir things up. Plus the media and the other club. Clubs with local or academy players as their stars are really lucky these days but they are like Hen's teeth. What clubs like LFC have to do is to at least match what the other clubs are offering. I still cannot work out how Kane is still at Spurs when he is paid less than half what players with one third of his talent are earning. His agents must be really poor or secretly getting back handers from Spurs.
