In perfect isolation no it doesn't but so what? We're a "cult" for not wailing about the loss of a single player despite the fact that you won't even dare suggest it affects our season at all? #bitterlogic
I don't buy this wrong time to buy stuff. Cup tied is probably only reason, still use them in league games. Rotation is used more now days.
he's a nominee for the December 2017 player of the month ... the reality is that he's had one poor season, the last one ... and most of our team did tbf ...
When is an ideal time to buy? Seriously, £75m for VvD, £146m for Couthino.....it's nuts. There is absolutely no difference financially. The only difference is availability....but money always talks in the end.
Fair point ... but he has got a lot better under Puel in that regard ... do not get me wrong I would hate him to go ... but I've seen just about every home game he's played for us and streams of the away games that I haven't gone to ... there is some right rubbish being written about him ... cracking player
Well..... sorry but.... if you not top dogs in England how can you be anything but. Btw Barca bought a whole two players... that's hardly like poor old Southampton who are sick of us. The reality is making do is our lot. Can should have been out last summer. End of. We made do hoping. We've made do with gk for how long now... lb? Henderson? The speed of change and improvement is vital. From here you could write a team sheet. Gk Gomez/taa Matip? Vvd lb Ox cm Kieta Salah st mane If you went and could afford vvd and coutinho sale is independent (imo its not but i dont know if 20mil is linked or 70mil how can i?) Then... gk, lb, cm, st needed very very quickly out of your money to improve enough to keep salah next.... We can't piss about here or 4th 5th and 6th is our best. We've watched mingolet, Henderson, lovren, Moreno **** us up time and again (half a team that btw) fix it or admit you are making do. City to dominate England. Lfc might get the odd cl year but will not be long til the cycle starts all over again. We have no loyal players in salah, Keita etc. They are all here to be paid while here and improve profile.
When the player is available. If a club is happy to sell ag the fee or the player has his club by the nuts then get it done. Goretzka has his pick. I'm sure his destination will be done clear soon. Not sure what he is waiting for exactly... must have sweetn offer already. Lfc knew can had us and we have rejected 20mil in summer either foolishly hoping he would sign or thinking keeping was best yet then half played him at best. Surely selling then was smart and just replace.
The only way to break that cycle is by winning trophies, which we haven't done for 5 years. Qualifying for the champions league is important, but a team that merely participates in the CL is just a stepping stone for the potentially great players to make a name for themselves before moving on. The club needs to shoulder a lot of blame on this for taking way too long to start taking a better approach to fixing obvious problems with the squad. The problems with our defence have been apparent since Carra's last season. The problem at left back had been apparent for an age, the problem at GK has been apparent since Reina's final season. Had these problems been approached more sensibly and efficiently, we might have won a title, or at least a league cup, in that time.
Yes. If serious about trophies buying vvd then selling a star like coutinho won't cut it. Build the side. Do it quick or you are always swimming against the tide.
Does that just prove that he wasn’t actually that important and effective in those big games, while in the other games without him v smaller clubs we didn’t actually struggle that much?
Still think it’s stupid to sell Coutinho a) in the middle of the season and b) without having replacement secured. There is talks about Lemar but possibly joining in summer. We need players now! This smacks of Klopp desperate to get rid of Coutinho to keep team spirit high but it’s small time. I don’t want us to be waiting until 31st January to bring in players - we need them now.
Seems quite obvious that this is not nearly as big as losing Suarez was at time and that hardly killed Liverpool. It’s a massive profit on a player who’s done superb and has only moved on to one of the worlds biggest clubs. It’s not as if Firmino, Salah and Mane are **** either is it? I’d say £145 million is his absolute ceiling price, probably above it. If some of it is spent on Mahrez, so Liverpool end up with the balance of a quality left sided player as well as van Dijk for less than they brought in for Coutinho, then as an outsider looking in I’m thinking ‘**** me they’ve done well that window’. VVD in is a bigger gain than he is a loss, if there was Mahrez or Lemar or similar on top, then they’ve done superbly well.
Even Klopp's comments make little sense and don't explain why the sale was done now. I wonder what VVD is thinking now after observing this latest example of pathetic management. Thought he was joining a big club.
