His, along with a couple of mates! Amount of horses he had at last count I am surprised his colours are not as common as JP's.
Hi all, horse is called sacred act running in the 5pm at ascot. He's a fragile horse but touch wood all has been fine. Wouldn't want it to get too soft. Hard to gauge how fit he is but even not fully fit he could well be good enough to win. He will be held up and will be heart in mouth stuff as he's stops when he gets to the front. He will travel like a dream and it's whether he has the fitness to run them down. Want a nice hard pace to run at. Worth watching his race at sandown if you have the chance!
Good luck with Sacred Act. Buying a horse out of old boy Gosden’s yard though…that’s brave. Hopefully, rewarding though. As I’ve said for a while now am greatly looking forward to the debut of HERCULEAN today (2.40 Ascot). This Frankel colt out of a Group 1 winner and a sister to Fair Eva, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, has a lofty reputation and let’s hope he can commence his career with a victory. Will be a watching brief for me this afternoon though as he’s short enough in the market right now and I’ve absolutely no idea as to his fitness and if he is ‘ready’. I could do an elaborate ‘I’ve been told…’ but to put it simply I’ve no idea if he’s totally tuned up and plenty of horses who have gone on to be exceptional, even great, have been turned over on their debut for lack of fitness or because it is merely a 'sighter'. He is though viewed a very good long term prospect and you can get 50/1 for next year’s Guineas – should Herculean bolt up by 5 lengths+ today I would imagine you’d get a fraction of that by 3 o’clock! Also, the opposition make this a well above average juvenile – Merlin Magic was just touched off in a hot maiden last month, Archie McKellar ran with huge promise 1st time up and Wadilsafa is another Frankel and a half-sister to 1,000 Guineas 4th Talayeb. I’ve waffled enough here but in summary hope Herculean puts up a Herculean effort. Boom boom. Good luck, pilgrims.
Old boy Ruby riding on the level tomorrow then for the first time in 4 years. Rides Renneti (4.35 Leopardstown) for a trainer I’ve never heard of.
Good luck to SACRED ACT and the don today. What an exceptional animal to own! He should have been ridden by Jamie Spencer today which leads me to my maximum confidence bets today. Both Spencer ridden; First up PLEASANT SURPRISE 2/1 Saint Cloud 2:40, this progressive filly from the in form Luca Cumani stable should easily be good enough to win this and then, significantly, he jets back for the Kempton 6:20 to partner LA LA LAND 6/1 for Jamie Osborne who was a massive eyecatcher on debut and will definitely appreciate the step up in trip.
I’m sure you’re right. A whopping €88,500 to the winner! Stick, your La La Land runs in the colours of a close pal of Mr Henderson’s. Today’s quiz question people. What last happened 10,002 days ago (yes, I know it would have been more topical if I would have asked it on Wednesday!)??? Clue – its sporting related but nothing to do with horses.
Herculean is quite the looker SirBarney. He faces another Frankel colt - WADILSAFA, a colt from the family of 1,000 Guineas winner Ghanaati.
