As im not a gym person (i find work physical enough). I do take a lot of of supplements (i never hold down a balanced diet). I take whey protein shakes, and a big variety if tablets, ranging through vit c to calcium. A shed load. Im also so vain that i sunbed twice a week. (utter twat i know). Anyone else supplemet their diets in any way. Or am i alone?
Oddly enough sun beds are illegal over here. Skin cancer is a massive problem, presumably as a result of the UV index. Not a supplementer myself. I would but it all costs a ****ing fortune.
Loads of supps, I don't use all of them every day though. Most days I'll just use Magnesium, Omega 3, BCAA and casein powder (bed time).
How do you know how much you need? I mean you can't overdose but your body will only take what it needs than shat the rest out. Bet there's loads of people burning money taking more than you need as they're pricey, but how do you know?
I keep on hearing that vitamin supplements do nothing beneficial for you, not that it makes sense to me.
It's easy to know how much you 'need', you actually don't need any. A good diet will not actually rely on supplements, but they have their advantages obviously if you can't get certain things into your diet every day, or if you need a quick uptake of protein which you couldn't get by eating solids. The only one you can't get from food is creatine, which the body produces naturally but 'not enough'. Actually, you could get it from food, if you ate about 5kg of lean beef every day, but obviously that is expensive, unrealistic, unhealthy and would probably give you a huge calorie surplus. Most people I know that take supps, immediately lose the value for the word 'supplement' and use it as a way to convince themselves that they're getting the protein they need because the sandwich, pizza and crisps they threw down in the day didn't give them enough protein.
Interesting what Disco said. Sunbeds are illegal in Aussie land. Everything else want to either bite or eat you, yet they ban sunbeds. Mind most aussies are tanned.
There's so much sun here mate. Even when it's overcast you catch a ****ing tan or even sunburn. There's a hole in the O-Zone layer over us apparently. They needed to do something about skin cancer so they did that. I was under the impression it was fine in moderation but I guess it's pretty hard to stipulate how much people use them.
Suntan salons stink, there's always some leather faced woofter in the corner too in his faded umbro shorts talking about going back to Menorca to meet Pablo. Pablo must have an arsehole like a butchered goat.
I read the other day that a third of Aussies have health issues due to a lack of contact with the sun, sounded like balls to me.
I hate medication I understand you need to take anti biotics to clear infection But other meds I don't like. I'm told you take pain killers to allow the problem to heal But how long do you take this crap. It took me three or four times to try and ween of my pain killers three years ago It was extremely difficult . I have a problem now with my leg and I WILL not take pain killers. Ok my wife says I'm a fool and should take these pain killers But I feel I can manage the pain myself without meds
To be honest I think a little less But it's still there. I find that while on holiday I'm concentrating more on enjoyment than the pain But the pain was always there Now without my leg problem I can manage my back pain quite good I have many more good days than bad
This was the quote what I read was referring to: "Studies suggest that between about a third and a half of Australians have at least marginal vitamin D deficiency." So not really what I said but it's related to a lack of sun, apparently a lot of Aussies work indoors and avoid the sun like the plague because of the high rate of skin cancer over there.
Aye. Like Disco was getting at. Hole in the ozone layer.. Just seems every aussie i meet is ****ing bronzed..( with that annoying accent).
